Rh- question
posted 28th Jul
If my blood type is A- does that mean Rh- ? I'm just not too sure what the Rh means. I don't remember if the doctor called it that or if she just said A-

Yes you are Rh-. you'll have to get a needle at around 28 weeks and another after delivery.

Yea, that means you are Rh negative. So they will give you a shot at 28 weeks and after you have the baby. That way if your blood and baby's blood mix, you don't form antibodies against it. I have to get the shot in a few more weeks, too.

You might not need the shot if the father is RH negative as well. I am O- and my husband is A- so I didn't need the shot. If you don't know the father's blood type, he can always go give blood and they will tell him his blood type.

Yeah I am Rh- as well, had to get a shot around 28 weeks and then again after delivery. Its good that I got it too cuz my daughter is +.

Yeah, if you and the father have the same blood type, the shot isn't needed. I have O-, and have gotten the shot each time except after my last one since she had the same type I did.

Yea the father is also A- so the doctor told me I won't need the shot. I was just wondering if Rh was like the general name for blood types. But thanks for the replies!
