It's too soon... isn't it???

You would think I would know by now... this being my second kid and all, but after 7 years it seems like a first pregnancy all over again.
I went to the dr for my 33 week check up today and when they checked me they said that I've already begun to lose my mucus plug. Now, I know that's not that unusual, but they also did my Strep B test today too... I thought that wasn't done until like the 37-38 week mark?? And I have to go have my final CBC blood test done as well.
I'm not due for another 6 weeks 2 days.... It seems this is all a bit soon for all this. They made it sound like they don't expect me to make it much past then next 2 weeks, if that.
Anyone else get the Strep B really early or was I just misinformed???

I got my GBS done at 34 weeks... I was under the impression they always are around there. They want to get the results back before in case you go into early labor or somethign.
EDIT: If they waited til week 38, you'd already be term and could have reasonably gone into labor and had your child before that.

It isn't soon at all. I agree with another girl. they do it about 32 weeks or so because just in case you do go into labor early. Not saying you are. My last pregnancy before this one. I was having contractions a month and a half before my due date and Dilating at that point as well. So they did all the tests on me as well. Its just so they know whats goong on with you before you walk in there and say "its time".. Besides if it was that serious the doctor would have said something to you. Good luck

I've already had 2 pre-term scares with this one.... During the last one they gave me betamethazone to make sure her lungs are fully developed.
I know the mucus plug thing isn't that big of a deal... I've been dialated for almost a month now, but my effacement keeps changing. I'm now 50% and her head is right on my cervix.
My first went to 39 weeks, but I had 3 pre-term labors with here (all stopped), but when she was born she had alot of problems. I just don't want the same thing to happen to this one.
