Do the prenatal sounds monitors really work?

posted 28th Jul
I'm looking to buy the BebeSounds Prenatal Heart Listener from Babies R Us, to hear the baby's heartbeat - but i've read that they don't really work for heartbeats, but you can hear hiccups really well .. I'm wondering what your experience is with them and if they're worth it. Thanks!

DON'T BUY IT!!!

I was so excited to get it and now in my 2nd pg I have never ever heard the heartbeat with it. I followed the instructions but no luck. You could look into renting one of the fetal doppler thingys.

If you really want the BeBe sounds try someone else's first to see if you like it and then try to find one at a baby consignment shop. Trust me- they are always there!

I had one, I loved it. It is nothing like the doctors, but it's fun. You do have to hunt pretty hard to hear anything interesting though. Mostly we heard my bowels gurgle lol. I would use it right after seeing the doc, and remember where he looked for the heartbeat. You can't hear much until the third trimester.

Don't buy a new one, too expensive, I got one practiaclly untouched in the box from a secondhand baby store for $5.

I bought one off ebay, and i wasnt trying to spend alot of money either so i knew there was a chance it wouldn't work but its been fantastic!! It was great for when before i could feel him moving just to 'match sure' he was still there haha i have an angel sounds one and i love it. I can hear his heartbeat loud and clear and all his moving around =] i think its worth the money
