is this fair or should i say something?

posted 28th Jul
well my boyfriend had his motorbike stolen last week it was his pride and joy.......
heres the problem he has another bike that we have up for sale at the minute along with my old death trap of a car the plan was to buy a family car between us now though i think hes going to take his money from the bike sale and the insurance claim and buy himself a brand new bike which means i wont have a car now i understand he loves biking but i have to do the shopping and go to doctors and maternity classes and will soon have a baby that i will need to get around with ive been dropping him to work and back since the bike was taken and could continue to aslong as i have a car plus ive said he can get a new bike on finance but he wants to take the money and pay off the new bike first

is he being selfish or am i?
(p.s i was planning to get a £4000 car which he said is to much yet the bike he wants is £6000 is that fair)

Well family car should come first definately. You can't put a baby on a motorcycle. My hubs has been wanting one sooo bad lately but we haven't had the means what with getting all the baby stuff and anotehr car and all. I'd have a long talk with him if i were you and just explain to him why that's not a good idea.

You need a family vehicle, tell him to man up and deal. He doesnt need a new bike that bad.

Men suck...tell him that unless you can find a bike that leggally allows a baby seat with a baby in it as a passenger that you get the family car first. Or tell him you're getting you bike license and you can drive it and he can walk with your baby everywhere you all need to go as a family.

Tell Daddy that it is time to grow up. The motorcycle is not a family car.

I SO know what your going through!! Mu Hubby starts acting like a little kid when he doesnt get what he wants!! AND! He has no problem going and buying things that HE wants... but once I spend money or "waste gas" he's the first to say something about it.
I've learned how to handle him and make him THINK about things before he does them. So far so good.
Just talk to him about it. Both of you caoul make lists of pros and cons of buying the CAR first. See what his other reasons are.

there are no cons to the car his only draw back is HE WANTS A BIKE NOW!!! therefore he thinks his hobby is more inportant than his family

If he buys that bike now.... he will regret it later. Maybe the reality of a baby hasnt set in. but I can assure you, it will once he/she is here!! He will feel bad about it and end up selling it to get a car.
So, why not quit wasting time and just get the car already!!! My Hubby wants a bike too, but he knows he has to wait until next tax time. So that way we can put a good down payment on one.
