First, I guess to me it just sounded like you were against stem cell research. So sorry if I misunderstood.
Second, I did visit the website and I wonder who exactly that site is funded by. I have read numerous articles about embryonic stem cells and there are studies that show embryonic cells can be manipulated to replace damaged heart cells. With cardiovascular disease being the leading cause of death in the United States this alone makes research in this area worth looking in to.
Third,you didn't respond to my question about all the ridiculous things the government funds to study. Wouldn't you rather see our tax money spent in an area where it can make a difference or a study of fruitflies?

The problem in science is not science itself, but the lack of funding. People want cures, yet don't want to fork over the money to find it, unless they are directly effected.

Instead of donating millions of dollars to seek a cure for say breast cancer, why don't the supporters push the government (or those organizations) to look into things such as stem cell research?!

Aren't we in one way or another sacraficial lambs to society anyhow? I support science...I love it. It's a necessity to build knowledge upon. It's funny to think that single-celled organisms are whipping our asses in the fight for life. Why is itso wrong to find a way to fight back effectively?

Here is the thing, you would love the evidence, but there isn't much evidence due to the fact that there isn't a cure yet..

You want the private companies to put their money out and their time, but the government is paying them to do it. The government wants the cure, but they don't want to spend a freakin' dime on it.. Which to me is bull.. While they sit there and spend money on stupid organizations that don't need the money, there are people dying or in pain and all they want is to be normal... Coming from someone that would benefit from it..

I don't believe we should take money away from Breast Cancer. There are still women and men that are dying from it.. Solets take away funding from people who do studies..

But that's the thing. There are all kinds of things being found from the ADULT stem cell research and there is NOTHING coming from embryonic stem cell research. You are asking that the government continue wasting money for NOTHING. That, to me, is stupid.

Besides that, it's still not the government's job to find cures for things.

Adult stem cells can only be give to where they came from. For instance, if you take cells from the heart, you can only give to the heart.Embryonic cells aren't full developed and can form to any cell...

Why not use embryonic stem cells? If a woman is going to "get rid" of her child, why not give it to science and let it save someone's life? I don't believe that women should just get pregnant and then get an abortion just because it would help science. I just think that if you are going to throw it away anyways, why not reuse it?

If you want to live in a 1 demension world that is fine. People didn't think that we would go to the moon and we did. It was unheard of that we would geta cure for many many diseases and we did. It takes time, effort, and money to get anywhere.

I do understand that you think that adult stem cells is okay. I am just worried that you can't fix something that is already broken. That you need a donor and adult stem cells aren't donor cells. They are cells from your own body. So how do you expect to cure something that is already broke with cells that can't be multiplied?

But again, it is only an opinion. I guess when you have done it all and deal with what I deal with day in and day out, you have to hope for something better. You have to hope that before I die that stem cells research will be finished and will cure many others.
