I got offered the same thing. The doctor kinda broke it down for me. Nothing can be done to change the results so its only for a heads up. If you would decide to keep the baby even with genetic issues then it is probally best to not know as it would make the pregnancy 1000x harder. If you would consider terminating the pregnancy based on the results then it would be best to run the tests to have all the info to make the right decision for yourself.

I don't want to get into what anyone would chose as that's a recipe for a heated debate and general bitchiness.It's just the breakdown on why you would make the choice to test or not.

I got my ultrasound and got to see our little peanut!! Heart rate was 150...she said everything looked good and that the spotting I had looked like it was from implantation.....so, woohoo......another ultrasound in 4 weeks-- I like this doc already!

i am sorry they wont do more ultrasounds.... i only had 2 done with my daughter first one was at 9 weeks then the 20 week one. Then i had problems with my other pregnancy's so i am considered high risk now. I had 7 ultrasounds with my son in 6 months. I am not sure if they will do that many with this one or not.

Mags, I am definetly getting all the test done, Ill keep the baby no matter what, what I very much wou.d like to know what I am dealing with and just be prepared with whatever happens!

yeah I'm on the same page. I think I should be prepared no matter what. but Stephanie's story scares me a lil. and do't listen to people. The Dr would tell you if you had something to be worried about! U r going to worry urself sick. So take a big deep breath! maybe you should join a Yoga group I know that helps me alot! or at least rent a yoga video and practice at home!

I feel your pain and frustration. I'm thinking of calling my doc and throwing my own fit. I just don't see how they can safely and ethically wait until second trimester to find out if there is a problem or not. Grrr.

I have a baby name question.......if we have a boy we have two names that we are thinking about one is my grandpa's (my dad's dad) name Ivica aka Ivan and the other is my uncles's (my dad's brother) Ante aka Anthony or Tony. Anyone think its kinda messed up that I would do my grandpa and uncles names but not my dad's? I brought it up to him and he's not offended but I just wanted to see what others think......

Not at all. The fact the he was considered is an honor in my opinion!

Not al all. I totally think that it's appropriate. Both names are great!

My son was actually named Grayson Thomas...after my dad, brother, and step brother...it's a beautiful thing when you can name your child after someone that you love...no matter who that person is...
