awww those are cute pics... my first sono will be sept 16th... Then my dr will confirm how far along I am. I was high risk with my son so they had me high risk for this one as well....... so that usually means lots of sono's.... I am happy for that. It just makes me feel better when I can see the little heartbeat. congrats everyone on there cute pics.....

The canadian medical system is so different...i have to get a private ultrasound and pay for it JUST to see the heartbeat and how far along i am exactly. I could also pay $340 for all the down syndrome/all other tests which includes an ultrasound...anyways, i hope it wont be too exprensive!

Anyone know why my doc would order a second cbc? blood test.

Hey all. Two days away from the pc and I was soooo far behind on posts! I'm glad everyone is doing well and it is so exciting to see all the ultrasound pics! My FIRST OB visit isn't until Sept. 19th; I'll be 10 weeks 6 days!!! They haven't mentioned an ultrasound but by then they better do one! I'm getting anxious and frustrated. That's almost the whole first trimester before making sure nothing is wrong! In the meantime, I'm just trying to focus on positive thinking and enjoying looking at the pics of your lil ones.

oh wow....it must differ in Quebec because I don't have to pay for anything. Well once I had to pay for blood tests that weren't covered to see if I had a blood clotting disorder. Everything else is covered but then again I am high risk

I'm gonna cry!!! I just called the doctor to make sure they are going to do an ultrasound my first appt Sept 11th & the lady said NO. First of all I am so completely bummed that my doc that delivered my son is retiring because he was so good & I trust him plus he's seen me inside & out & I don't want to go through that with someone new. With my first I had ultrasounds every 2 weeks due to the fact that I have Factor 5 which is a blood clotting disorder. Plus I had an eptopic pregnancy when I was 20. I can already be assured (pretty much) that this is not eptopic because they tested my hormone levels and they are going up appropriately. But damn, I just want my old doc back!!! He paid such close attention to me & baby & now they are telling me they won't do an ultrasound until 20 WEEKS!!! I can't wait that long to make sure everything is ok with baby!! I have a call into the nurse to call me back. I'm so upset.

It may not help a lot...but at least it's a good sign that you and the baby are healthy.  

I understand about not having your Dr though. My dr just told my husband that my clinic is getting out of doing OB within the next year. What a bummer! I love my Dr. and my clinic is amazing! I just told my husband that we'll have to get pregnant right away after this one is born!

Awww what a bummer. Are they completely aware of your history? Maybe once you meet with them they will change their minds.

So yesterday at my appt the Dr mentioned 2 tests. both r covered under my insurance but not sure I would wanna know the results if they were bad. The first would be done in 2 weeks and is a ultrasound to check the thickness of the babies neck to check for down syndrome and the second is a blood test at 15 weeks to check for other abonormalities. Has anyone had them done? were u scared? i dont know what to think......

I had both of the tests done. Mind you this was 11 years ago and though in the scheme of things not very long but technology has made leaps and bounds since then.

Anyways....

My blood test for my second pregnancy came back positive for Down syndrome so my physician scheduled me for the measuring genetic ultrasound and we had to meet with a genetic counselor too. The ultrasound came back that my pregnancy was simply misdated by 2.5 weeks and they had done the bloodtest at the wrong time which gave the bad result. My daughter was born a few months later, perfecto. I couldn't have asked for a better outcome than the one I got!

Fit's have worked well for me in the past. Just yesterday they screwed up my appt. and did not have me scheduled properly. I yelled enough to fix it. Granted, i'm polite and apoligize constantly for the fit itself - but it's a fit nonetheless.
