Ok ladeis, I don't know what to do

posted 26th Jul
I gave Connor formula yesterday forthe first time, mixed feelings there. He's a little over 1 month. Anyway so then I thought I would continue on formula, my boobs this morning hurt so damn bad! So I pumped, not as long as usual, and feel better. How do I stop breastfeeding?

Engorgement stops production...as well as cold. If you keep pumping, they'll keep producing. So ice those babies, wrap them up tight (nice sports bra, or my SIL even used an ace wrap).

I've heard cabbage leaves in your bra can help ease the discomfort. Sounds silly, but I've heard it multiple places, even the lactation consultant.

I allways weaned my babies off so I wouldn't get engorged. Just switch a little nursing for a little formula and the next day a little more. It is the less painful way of slowing your production before you stop....

Avoid hot showers, and cabbage leaves apparently work a treat.

Why do you want to stop nursing? It is the best thing I have ever done, next to having my baby, in my entire life.

its her choice. some people just dont WANT to breast feed. some people cant. it doesnt really have anything to do with what was best for ayone else.

yeah but shes obviously been doing it for a month without supplementing, and she obviously has milk since shes engourged. we were just wondering. i didnt know it wasnt allowed to ask questions. because maybe if she was quitting because of lack of support, then we could support her or something.

Because every time someone asks a question about "trying to stop BF" or the like it automatically gets all the BF freaks in here starting stuff. she just asked how to stop BF...she doesnt have to explain WHY she wants to.

I never breastfed, so im assumng stopping is the same as never doing it to begin with. i dont think it was particularly painful, but my breast just got huge and looked awesome for a few days, then nothing. if it h urts take the percocet you got after you had the baby if you have any left. i think mine were gone between picking up the script at the pharmacy and the ride home lol

No I just like to give people encouragement because I know what an awesome beautiful thing it is. It is hard at first but it gets way better. But you can call me a breastfeeding freak, I don't mind, I'll take that as a compliment

i am a bfing freak. and a lot of women give up before even gettign started because they have lack of support or help, and if i can help them i will. if she wants to quit because she doesnt like it, then fine, but if theres a chance she is posting this as a cry for help, then i will try to help.sometimes when people say they wanna quit something it's just because they are hoping somebody will encourage them to keep going. and thats not just with bfing, it's with many different things in life, jobs, sports, projects, school etc.
