Helping Her Out!!!

posted 26th Jul
So Ive been having irregular contractions for the past couple of days and when I went to the Dr they told me I was 50% effaced and 1-2 cm dilated. Anyways these contractions are making me very ill and grumpy and I heard nipple stimulation and sex helps. So my question is how exactly do you massage your nipples to get the contractions to pick up... I already know if she's not ready nothing will help

Rubbing your nipples and I think using a warm compress can help

If you have a breast pump already, those work the BEST for nipple stimulation to help labor. We use that quite often to help contractions along at the midwifery clinic! Just put the breast pump on and let it pump for 15 minutes, then rest for 15... and so on and so forth! Otherwise, you can just use your fingers, use enough pressure that it doesnt tickle, and just massage them really, you can do it around in circles, or even have your hubby suck on them! You want to do it pretty continuously, like a baby would if it were nursing... for about 15 minute stretches at a time. (you want to give them a break so you dont rub them raw)
Contractions should begin during stimulation, and continue on pretty regularly while you are doing it. Once you have kicked labor into gear, you can stop, or if the contractions get strong enough you're confident they arent gonna quit on you!
Also, orgasms are good.
Edited to add, nipple stimulation works by releasing oxytocin in your brain which triggers contractions. Its the same hormone your body makes when you are in labor, and its similar to the synthetic pitocin which they give to induce labor. Once your contractions get strong enough, the contraction itself releases more oxytocin in your brain, which triggers another... and you get the cascading effect which brings about birth! Good luck!
