4 months is the age most pedi's recommend starting rice cereal. Dilute it a little bit with some breastmilk/formula and put it in a bottle and there ya go.

Most peds say 4-6 months, alot of them are saying 6 months, but there are other signs you have to look for first, I'll go find them and post them for you.

We started Will on cereal at 5 months.

I wouldn't give her it yet, at 2 months they still need as much formula/breastmilk as they can get.
Btw- NEVER put cereal in a bottle in can cause colic

Talk to your pedi first. If she's still hungry after bf, then maybe offer the breast to her more often or let her suckle a little longer even if you're "empty" You body will get the message that it needs to make more milk.

Guidelines for starting solids taken out of my nutrition textbook for one of my nursing classes:

A child must be able to do ALL these things before they're ready to start solids: *They can sit up with assistance (this means strait up, not at an angle like in their car seat, more strait up like in a stroller)
*They can grasp objects with the palm of their hand
*They can hold their head steady
*They indicate their desire for food by opening their mouth and leaning forward
*They indicate disinterest or satiation by turing their head away
*They don't push a spoon out of their mouth with their tongue
*They are at least 4 months old, although now the American Academy of Pediatrics is suggesting to wait untill at least 6 months

I tried my son early on it and he couldnt tolerate it at all., then he ate every hour and half till he was 5 months old. When I could add the cereal it still didnt hold him. Hes 8 months and eats 2 to 3 times a night, becasue food and formula dont hold his appetite. Could just be your baby., I would wait though

Lilly is like that, she eats solids now and cereal and still wakes up about 4 times a night hungry
