Protein in urine during pregnancy
posted 25th Jul
Hello all, I have a question regarding protein in your urine while pregnant. after I lost my son in February this year, I had enough with my Doctor hiding things from me and other stuff as well. anyway I had requested my file so I could go to another Doctor. after going throught my file I noticed that at my last visit, 4 days before my son died she had found protein in my urine it was + 1, the thing is she never told me. my question is should she have told me and done further testing? Two days after my appointment I had gained 10 lbs my feet and legs swelled up so bad I could barely walk..can anyone help me ?

she should have told you and then took action.
She should have requested you go to the hospital and have a 24 uraine test done. then they could have caluated the exact amount of protine that was spilling.

My dr never told me either.. I got very sick and had to deliver at 29 weeks.. both myself and my daughter almost died. I think some drs are very neglegant.. I think yes, everyone should be told things like this.. but that doesn't always happen.
ETA: Sorry for your loss..

Sounds like you had preclampsia(sp). How was your bp? Swallowing, protein in urine, high bp, headaches, and other stuff are signs of preclapmsia(sp) as well.

Protein in urine and weight gain is a sign of toxemia (pre-eclampsia). I had it severe gained 40 lbs in 2 days extremly high B/P and protein in urine and eye floaties and rib pain. Usually the toxemia hurts the mother and takes awhile to cause harm o the baby. I am so sorry for your loss how old was your baby when he/she passed? Usually a woman develops toxemia after the 20th week of pregnancy.

I don't know alot about the protein in the urine...but I do know that when I was pregnant I had protein in my urine and it was reason enough for them to send to me to the hospital to be monitored. I would be asking questions if I were you!!

It also sounds like to me you had pre-elampisa. I had that. I am not sure if your baby dying was the result of her not taking action through. But she deff should have said something and should have took action right away. That was wrong of her and i would deff look into maybe sueing her.

They should have done a 24 hour urinialysis.

they took action right away at my doctors office when they found protine in my pee. I went to the hospital right away. Where i was montiroed and then they sent me to another hospital that was more eqipped to deal with pre-mature babies. They did the 24 hour pee test and then montiored me and did blood tests and ultra sounds everyday where i was then diagoned with pre-clampisa and helpps.

Yes I had all the symptoms of preclamsia, accept the high blood pressure . I was 24 weeks when I lost my son. need less to say I am trying to gather all the answers to the questions I need so I can look into legal action, I feel she is responsible , my prenantal care was great so was she until he died, then she became cold and heartless, and it made me very suspicous. I just recently got my file about two months ago. thank you all for your responses. and sorry for those of you suffering from losses, and congrats to you who are expecting. I wish you all the best
