WTF??? What do you think?

posted 25th Jul
Okay.... I've been reading "What to expect when you expecting" the past few days, and I just read something that makes me wanna smack someone for even bringing up.

Now... I'm in NO way saying that you should try this, but I just wanted to see what ya'll thought of the suggestion.

Under the "False Labor Symptoms" they are discussing signs of false labor. Well, one of the symptoms they bring up is.... and I quote.

"The uterus relaxes and contractions ease if you have an alcoholic drink."

Since when did we advocate drinking during pregnancy... I always thought it was like major no-no.

What do ya'll think??

I was always told a glass of wine doesn't hurt anything.

I do not know how often though.

I never drank. Lol.

Some women have a glass of wine every now and then.

One glass of wine is supposed to be okay... every now and then.
It's pretty careless if they didn't specify!

*edit* RED wine.

Late in pregnancy, many doctors will ok a half to a whole glass of wine or beer. I personally see nothing wrong with it.

Even doctors are torn on this one, but some say that an occasional glass of wine during pregnancy, especially after the first trimester, is okay.

While the book was more than likely referencing something like that as opposed to doing shots, they probably should have been more specific for the idiots out there. I can see it now: "I'm having false labor...time for a shot of Patron!"

ETA spaces that should have been there...space thieves!

I personally do not drink while pregnant, even if some books say that it's ok to have a glass of wine. I do not want to risk anything.

I don't drink pregnant or otherwise, but some doctors say that one beer or one glass of wine a day is fine. I think it's a personal decision and if the woman has discussed it with her doctor, then no one should be able to say she is wrong.

I just never thought that a dr would okay it.... "Oh... I'm having contractions... let me shoot down some captian before I go to L&D"

I can just see the look on the nurse's face when someone walks in, in labor, smelling like a keg of beer.

Lol...even better...they do a keg-stand for false labor. That would work double...the alcohol, plus gravity, would keep that baby in there fo sho.
