wedding band or engagement ring

my husbands family says engagement ring goes on first, then the wedding band goes on to secure it because normally the engagement ring costs more.. i googled it to see what was right, and everything ive seen (98% of it anyways) says wedding band first, then engagement ring, some crap about being close to the heart....

im in australia, maybe they have different traditons... so any aussie wifeys and US wifeys.... opinions please?

Traditionally, the wedding ring should go on first so it's closest to your heart, but there's no right or wrong way. It's just whatever you prefer really. I've seen people do both.

I think it's engagement ring then wedding band, because you get the engagement ring first,

I've always thought it was wedding band first, then engagement ring. But it does kind of make sense the other way around, because you get engaged before you get married...I dunno...I only wear my wedding band.

Yep~ the wedding band goes on 1st & then the engagement ring~ but I don't always wear my engagement ring, just my band

I don't wear my engagement much but when I do, it's always band first (because I never take it off) and then the engagement ring.

Wedding band first and then engagement on top of it. You don't normally have the engagement ring on when you get married. I had it on my other hand. So when the wedding band was placed on, the engagement ring went on top of it.

you dont wear your engagment ring on your wedding day so your wedding ring is first then you put the engagement ring backon after.

My ring had a hook thing underneath so they would stay together while on, I started off wearing the one with the diamond on it because if I wore the plain band it wouldve looked funny with a hook sticking out the side.

when youre getting married, the wedding band goes on your bare finger.....youre not supposed to take it off so naturally the engagement ring has to go on after the band.
