I wanted to buy one of those bottle warmer thingys from Wal-Mart but Im not sure if it would be a waste of money. I mean what did you guys do? Should I just stick the bottle under hot running water???

I never used a bottle warmer. I actually used the formula that was powder, made the water to temp I wanted and mixed it up. Most places you go you will find a sink, and its much better to care around without worrying about it going bad.

I've microwaved all my bottles for my kids but I know that doesn't fly with some people.

I think it would be a great idea for when you are out. There are ones that are portable, I saw them at babies r us. For at home, I stick to the hot running water.

Why bother...it's like a baby wpies warmer..if you're out for a long period of time then what?!

I used to just give my son room temp bottles because the formula they give the babies at the hospital aren't warmed up either. He got used to it that way. Same with whenI was breast feeding...can't warm up a boobey! LoL Otherwise I used running hot water if it was in the fridge kill some of the chill.

goodluck!

I micro'd my son 10 yrs ago too, Now they say OHH that is so horrible, IDK Why it is now? I mean I am not an idiot that is going to get it too hot, usually I would just put in for like 30 secs. cause it was cold from fridge. ( i would always pre-make bottles/formula) Right now I am just getting out of the tap and waiting for it to heat up. I have to say though, at 3am when baby is screaming it is a pain in the ass to have to try to hold him and make bottle, I am thinking about starting to premake them put in fridge and just popping in micro.
So ladies what is the big deal about micro-ing the bottles? They told me zaps the nutrients out, but my son was VERY healthy chunky baby, so I don't see how that holds up.

I am not sure about formula but I did read that it zaps the nutrients from breastmilk out. I think it was more of a concern for hot spots (which aren't there if you shake it a few times). I also read that chemicals that make up the bottle can get into the formula but I think that was before...So I don't think there is much of a risk. I always warmed breastmilk under tap water but never formula.

I bought one and used it the whole time my son was on a bottle. It only takes a minute or so to heat a bottle. It was worth the $20 I spent on it and I plan on using it for this baby too if I don't breastfeed. But if you can get your child to take a bottle that is room temperature, do that it's a whole lot easier than worrying with warming bottles. My son wouldn't take a cool/warm bottle, he wanted his really warm.

We loved and still do, our bottle warmer. We'll often make several bottles at the same time, and refrigerate them, so it works nicely, and a lot safer than the Microwave. My uncle & Aunt Microwaved their first sons bottles, but got the warmer for their second and were much happier. we found that out after we already had ours.
