Vacation Help

posted 24th Jul
(I posted this in PWI yesterday, but didnt get many replies. Sorry.)

Well I am trying to pack to go on vacation for a week. We are leaving Saturday morning, but I just dont know what all to bring for my 5 month old.

I am not looking for the basics here, I know food, diapers, etc. Toys though...I dont want her to be bored, but I dont want to go OVERboard! Excersaucer, play gym thing, activity center, papason chair thing, bumbo? What should I -or shouldnt I -bother with? Please if someone who has been there can give me advice that would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

Depends on how much down-time you will be having. If you will be doing something out everyday, then I wouldn't worry with too many toys. But if you will be spending the majority of time indoors, I say whatever you can fit into the car, goes!

I would only bring small things i dont think i would bring anything more than the bumbo and something to sleep in if there wontbe anything where you are going. She is only 5 months old she will prolly sleep the whole way. I wouldnt even bring that many toys it just becomes more stuff you can lose!!

Thats probably a good point.

We are going to Tennessee, and we'll probably do a good bit of stuff, but also be at the cabin a good amount too. I was more concerned about when we are in the cabin, not doing much. I didnt want her to be bored, and I also didnt want to have to hold her at all times if I didnt bring something for her to at least sit in. I will take the pack and play for sure, so I guess it isnt a big issue.

I just stress out about everything! I guess thats a new mommy thing! Thanks for your answers ladies.

Adison is 6 months old now, but even at 5 months she wasnt sleeping the entire day.  I would bring the exersaucer so she has something to play in, and a swing if you still use it a ton!  Plus something for her to sleep in.  Bring a comfort item.  Maybe use a sheet in her crib for one night, then take it off and bring it w/ you so it smells like what she is used to at home.  I would be more concerned about the comfort items than toys, I think.  For toys, just bring a stuffed animal and something that makes noise or plays music.  Extra pacis in case you lose one!  Extra bottles in case you are out for the day and don' thave a place to clean one!  I am a chronic overpacker, but in t his case I think you can't pack too much...it is much better to have to pack a lot of stuff than to realize you didn't bring something and not be near a babies r us! ;-)

Thank you so much! That was what I was looking for! Haha. I am a chronic overpacker as well. It drives my husband insane. I say the exact same thing,I would rather pack it for no reason than be stuck without something we need!

Thanks so much for your help!! Everyone!
