re: Very concerned vaccine question (not your average debate..)

Oh yes, I wanted to add that I didn't know I had a choice about HepB when Isabelle was born. I basically signed paperwork allowing it without knowing what it was. I was high on pain killers and felt taken advantage of.

Thank you for your point of view. I mean I had all my shots and I am fine and I know things have changed. Plus what can I do, if she gets something one way or the other I will still love her and be her Mother and it really doesn't matter but knowing I could possibly prevent something makes me atleast want to be positive I am making the best informed decision ya know! Again thanks!

To address some of sarahperez's concerns: In the US the recommended vaccination doesn't have the first MMR given until 12 mos old, so you have some time to think about that one. Also we do not generally use OPV (oral polio vacccine which has been found to sometimes cause vaccine-associated polio) we pretty much only use IPV (inactivated polio). And they definitely should have explained what the Hep B vaccine was to you.

i still hadn't made any decisions yet, so i denied it. i can always get it later. i don't think he's planning on sex or needles at this time in his life (i know the other ways of being spread too though...)

I've decided to go along with the immunizations as sched. I asked my sons Pedi if it was alright to give them to him even though he wasnt really 2 months, etc... She assured me that they shouldnt be an issue but that obviously you need to watch you baby closely for issues after any vaccine.... Lucky for me my son didnt have any issues, he onyl cried really hard for the first little bit after having them and then he crashed. I made sure to give him a very small dose of baby tylenol like his Dr said to to keep him comfortable and make sure he wasnt achy. Turned out that I only had to give him one dose of the tylenol and that was it.... He did great!

You won't recieve the MMR till 1 year so your 2 months shots I think will be okay. good luck I hate shots it makes me cry too.

My 17 month old son had his first MMR and Chicken Pox vaccine 10 days ago.
Three days later we were calling 911 after he had a high fever and went into a seizure. He is fine right now, but is now starting to break out in a rash, which is probably chicken pox.. I went on-line to reasearch and found that both vaccines given together can cause high fever and seizures. In ( ) it then says very uncommon!!! Well I was scared and now mad that my doctor did not let me know of this risk before giving both at the same time. Now they also have told me since he has had this seizure that anytime he gets a fever it could happen again up to 6 years old..... I do believe the vaccines caused this and it was very scary to watch your little baby just drop and go into a seizure....
