Has this happened to anyone else?

My husband insisted we name our boy if we ever had one it would be named Antony Vito Laudicina...Mind you I'm Puerto Rican and hes Italian mostly and he has a lot of other European backgrounds. I hate the name and he gets mad when ever i bring it up. Antony Vito was his great uncle who died in WW2 and his father is named after him. I could care less i think if he can name the baby after his father that i should be allowed to change atleast the middle name to have my fathers name. But he says no because he doesn't like my dad. But i let him do so much already and i feel like i have no say..i just carry him for nine months and let him have control what should i do?

My boyfriend is italian mixed with someone else and oh god the names that came out of his mouth. I couldnt even pronouce them right. Thank god it was a girl and we came up with a name we both liked. We were fighting over the boy names. I say he should let you pick at least one name. I mean its only fair.

More than likely you'll be alone when the hospital gives you the paperwork for his birth certificate. Just fill in what you want and your bf can't do anything about it!

fill out his birth certificate when he isn't around LOL then he can't do anything about it. y'all made the baby together...you carried it for nine months.. really I think mom should have final say in baby names....but that's just my hormonal opinion

I think the name should be something you BOTH like, not just one or the other loving it and the other hating it. You've still got some time to figure it out (and if it's another girl then it won't be a problem!)

I agree with you! I think you should have the finaly say in the name. Plus you both made this baby and he needs to give, he did not just carry a baby for 9 months. I put my foot down with my hubby. He always wanted a Wesley Dwayne. I dont like Wesley at all. So we ended up with Andrew Jordan.

tell him to shutup.... wtf?? babies are 50/50 thus he should be happy your even willing to let him name the first name (the important one) Tell him you have a MAJOR say so he can just get over it...

DO NOT give in to what he wants. talk it out more and compromise if you have to but do not just let him have his way or you will be very upset about it and never forgive yourself for letting someone else tell you what to name YOUR baby.

i went through this with my first. We had a perfect named we both agreed on and he decided at the last minute he wanted to name him after his father so that made my son the III.

I can say I argued for weeks and lost and 6 yrs later I'm still pissed about it so fight it girl!!

I don't see why its a big deal for men to always want the last say. My mom and Mother in law always said it should be up to the mother cause men will care for a split second and forget about it but women always remember lol

lol (well kind of)!! yea my bf and i took awhile agreeing on a name for our little boy! but whenever he mentioned a name i did NOT like, i just straight up told him, "NO." i mean, i'm the one carrying it around, i'm not just gonna end up givin it a shitty name lol!

we basically agreed that i'd give him the first name, and he'd decide the middle name. luckily, we both ended up agreeing on the first name anyway, but i'd recommend doing something like that... 50/50.

If it's that big of a problem I would say just pick a totally NEW name without either of your fathers names in it. OR, you could put both of your fathers names as MIDDLE names and thats it. And find a new first name that you both like. ...

however, I do know a few women who have put their foot down and said "Well I am the one carrying around the baby for nine months so I AM naming this baby. " and the father had no say whatsoever.

but overall it's up to you and your hubby. Good luck, and I hope you both work out your differences in name picking!
