Have any of your toddlers gone thru this. I think i have asked before but now i am getting a little worried .He just doesnt eat. I mean he does tell me hwen he is hungry. So that is good right?
Ijust dotn know what to do to get him to eat.

My daughter is 18 months and also won't really eat table food. But every sicne we did what the doctor suggest she is getting better. Pick one food the your family will eat the night and give it to him three straight days in a row. That's a start!

I'm going through the picky stage with my two year old. His doctor told me last week to just let him be. Our problems is that he'll eat cereal or toast and fruit for breakfast, PB&J or a hot dog for lunch and will absolutely not touch a thing for dinner unless it's processed. She said to keep a vegetable he will eat on his plate, give him a serving of whatever the rest of us are eating and keep whole grain bread on the table and to not be surprised if all he eats is bread and a bite of veggies for dinner for the next few years. She said the important thing is to not cater to him and cook something for him that the rest of us are not having because toddlers balance out their nutrition over weeks or a month, not daily.
Good luck!

My hubby's nephew was like that when he was younger. The only way we could ever get him to eat anything other than bologna and cheese was to tell him he had to eat a bite of whatever it was and then he could have his bologna and cheese. He threw a fit a few times and then realized it wasnt that bad to eat just that bite so he could have what he wanted. He grew out of it before long though, and now he eats everything! I think its mostly a phase that alot of kids go through.

My son turn's 2 on Aug. 8th and he is a very picky eater. Sometimes I can't get him to stop eating other times it seem's like he'll only eat dry frosted mini-wheat's for day's! His doc has told me as long as he drink's milk(my son likes choc milk mostly) and %100 juice like Juicy Juice and his weight is good then I shouldn't be worried. Good luck!

My little boy that is 3 is the pickiest eater every! When he was little all he would eat is hot dogs and cheese. I asked the doctore and he said it was find but still keep trying to introduce new food to him with every meal. Now he eats everything expect hot dogs can't stand them so try this and if it doesn't improve then put in a call to your doctor he can make some suggestions. Good luck.

I'm so glad to know it's not just mine that is doing this. I stopped making actual sandwiches for my 2 year old cause he would take it apart and only eat the turkey, or lick off the peanut butter(just depended on the sandwich.) I finally just started giving him a spoonful of peanut butter and a banana or just some turkey and and apple or something. I don't feel so bad now

Thanks ladies!! It is soo good to know i am not the only one going thru this.
I will def try the reasoning. That sounds like a good idea.
He does drink a lotof milk and juice so that is good . Oh he also drinks a lot of "cold " water lol (that is the only way he will drink it)
I serve him a plate every nite and he never eats it. Hopefully he will get out of this stage soon. lol it is driving me crazy

I'd watch the milk and juice intake because he could be full on that and not be eating solids because of it. I've been told no more than 6 ounces of juice (because of the sugar) and three cups of milk a day. Anything more than that needs to be water.

I had theEXACT problem with my 2 yr old... until i read a brilliant book about fussy eaters...
I used to give him lots of juice and milk in day then he would only eat toast in morning, or a small bowl of cereal.
He would take the ham/turkey/chicken out of a sandwich and leave the bread. for lunch.
He would take 1 bite of dinner and just want the garlic bread/ or whatever bread was on table.
THEN i read that sometimes kids, get served a TOO big portion on the plate..
If they see too much food sometimes they feel overwhelmed by it (bless them!!) SOOOOO the trick i read was...
If you serve them like 1-2 nuggets or 1- 2 bits of meat or whatever the main bit is.
And say, 2 chips, or asmall potato ora bit of rice/pasta
Andthen 1-2vegetable pieces (it sounds small but dont worry) and SAVE the rest of his normal portion in the kitchen......then they are more likely to eat that small portion, then when they do eat it all, ask them if they want a little bit more... Hopefully they will say yes!! then repeat the process from the food you saved in the kitchen, but dont let them see there ismore food in there.
they will feel like they have eaten it all up and give them LOTS of praise when they do..
it may not work for everyone's kid, but after the first time of trying it with my boy, i was shocked that it did actually work.
i didnt think it would,
it's worth a try..
But seriously cut out the juice and milk about an hour or 2 before they eat..thats a mistake i made.
now my pumpkin eats more at dinner time which makes me a happy mummy.
