CIO.. issues.

I do not belive in letting my son CIO.. but at my 6 month doctors appointment today they told me to let him CIO to bed.. that hes too old to be eating in the middle of the night.. hes up 5-7 times a night for no reason.. just to cry.. she said hes learning to manipulate me so i need to nip this in the bud. because hes been hitting and screaming to get what he wants.. wether it be the cup on the table.. that he doesnt want to go to bed even though hes so tired hes continually rubbing his eyes.. or he wants me to carry him. so.. she said.. shut his door.. shut my door.. turn the baby monitor off.. and go to bed. i was so scared to.. idk why i have this feeling that something bad would happen.. but.. i did it.. and... he slept.. al by himself.. the first time i didnt have to lay with him.. it was horrible.. he screamed bloody murder and as i was about to go in and get him because my heart was tron in two... he stoped.. i peeked in and lil man was fast asleep. YAY! i went to bed.. slept all through the night.. woke up to an alarm i set for 7am since the baby monitor was off i didnt want him to be up for the day and me not hear him.. well he was fast asleep.. by 8am and gently picked him up and he woke up and he smiled and layed his head on my chest and hugged me.. he wasnt mad at me or anything like i thought hed be.. he slept all by himself and then was happy to see me inthe morning.

i don't believe in CIO in most cases because of my son but maybe you should just let him CIO.. i wouldnt let him for more than 5-10 minutes at most.. and normally as a mom you can tell wether its just for attention or something is wrong. i dont know its just IMO.. good luck

oh ty lol i feel dumb. I let emma start doing that after she would stay up until 4am evey night i think she was 7 months old when i started now i put her in her crib and she falls right to sleep at first she would cry for an hour or 2. but he will get used to it. i promise

Thanks. I had to turn up the radio so i wouldnt hear him.. i dont want to let him CIO.. but i know its for the better. im getting no sleep and he needs to learn that bedtime is for the whole night.. not just for a cuple hours on end and he cant fall asleep with me. Thats all ill let him cry for because it will benefit us both. i dont know how long he cried for after he got up in the night.. i shut the door.. shut mine and turned the radio on and went to bed because it hurt so bad to hear him cry.. but he must have been fine because in the morning he was all snuggled in and didnt seem to mind.. he needs to learn to sleep on his own because now im public when he gets tired.. he wants me to snuggle with him.. and i cant really lay down on the grocery store floor and snuggle.. lol.. he needs to know that when hes tired to just go to bed.. not to play games with me. but speaking of bed.. i need to go to bed. hes already asleep and tomorrows a big day.
