Is it normal for your urine to look cloudy?

posted 22nd Jul '08
I am drinking lots of water more than the 8 glasses a day that’s recommended, yet my pee looks like I am dehydrated and it doesn’t have much color. It also has a strong spell and no matter how many times I wipe I still get drips in my panties. I know it’s a bit TMI but I wanted to ask you gals if this is anything you experienced while your were only ten weeks pregnant. I haven't seen anywhere in my pregnancy books that this is normal, maybe its something that I need to call my doctor about.

Cloudy urine is usually an infection. I would get a UTI test at the docs office.

If you're dehydrated, your urine is a dark color, if it's almost colorless, thats good.
but idk, my pee looks pretty normal to me.

I am 10 weeks and 3 days. I think it is normal its just your body reacting. Maybe it is something different you are eating but i get cloudy pee sometimes too. I wouldnt worry as long as you arent in pain. I would think everything was ok as long as you are feeling ok!

Mine has been like that for most of my pregnancy, even though my tests show up that I'm hydrated and no UTI, so I'm going to go with yes it's normal but it can't hurt to ask your doctor anyway.

Usually youre dehydrated when your pee has a lot of color to it, not the other way around.....and i agree, could be a uti.

i would say its a uti. Cloudy pee and a strong smelling pee are signs of a uti. Call your doctor asap and them do a pee sample. That will tell you what it is. But most likly its a uti.I have 4 of them already and all of them sound like what you had.

Yeah I get the normal color change, Darker when I don't drink enough and lighter when I'm waterlogged but soemtimes it's cloudy and every time the doc tests I'm negative for even a mild UTI , yeast infection, etc...

I think cloudy may mean infection but before I was pregnant I always drank a lot of water and my urine was never even yellow, usually clear with no smell because of all the water I drank. I increased my water intake when I got pregnant, but my urine got darker witha scent. The doc said its because your body is filtering more when you're pregnant. HTH but I'd still check for a possible infection.
