moving question!

posted 22nd Jul
Hey ladies! My hubby and I are moving from cali to florida next month hubby got orders to a new base. anywheys well this is my first move and people have told me to let the military move us but I also heard we can make more money if we move ourselves. my fam is willing to fly like 2 weeks later with the baby so he doesnt have to do the car ride so my hubby and I can get the moving done ourselves but at the same time I would rather just let the miliarty move us and be a lil more stress free due to we dont even have a place lined up for us yet. Im really stressed about this whole thing. I had to quit my job that I have been at for almost 4 years. We sold one of our cars cause the miliarty will only pay for one of our cars to get there and money wise things just suck for us lately. We have never had to stuggle like this before and so I was thinking if we moved ourselves we can make alil cash. If any of has done this please lemme know some info. Thanks!

you can do one of those things that you basically pack up a trailer and the company comes and picks up the trailer and moves it for you- that will save you money as opposed to hiring someone to pack all your stuff in the trailer. This way, you're only paying for them to move... then you would have to unload the trailer as well. They normally give you like 3 days or something for each.

I'd rather just let the military move my stuff. I don't know if you would be saving money by moving yourself seeing how it is all the way across the country. You need to find out how much they would give him to move. Take that amount and call about moving trucks..you know 1 way and consider gas. If its not worth it..its not worth it. Let me know what you find out. I'm excited we have another mommy coming to Florida.

let the military move you. they pay for everything! plus if anything gets broken then they pay to replace/fix it. They are quick and free. Plus you don't have to do a damn thing. They even set up your new house meaning they put the boxes where you want them and i believe set up your bed and such. they are responsible for everything! plus it saves you the hassle

its tough. my first move was to Italy. i was still with my parents, but not my older siblings and the people i grew up with. It is hard, but always keep a positive attitude. good luck and i hope everything goes good for you.

We're USMC and they paid for both of our cars (gas mileage) to be driven across. We also did the move ourselves (we let PODs transport it cross-country, but we did the packing/unpacking, etc) and we made about $7K. Which comes in handy with a kid.

Hope that helped you decide!
