DEERS. {military moms}

since my husband is deployed can i just go on the deers website or call deers to add my son when hes born or am i going to have to go to a place to enroll him in deers. i dont live near a base so i was just wondering because there is a place like a hour away i can go to to enroll him in deers but i was wondering if there was a easier way.

You have POA for your hubby right? Because I knowthey told me I would have to have that.I am not sure if you have to go in, or call... Just call and ask now so you know for the future.

I am not sure but i would call the base or a local military office to ask what you should do

i have power of attorney. i just was wondering if there was going to be a easier way for me to enroll the baby in deers other then driving a hour away to no where land to do it. then im going to have to drive two hours away to enroll him in tricare prime. but i think the last time i talked to the people at tricare they told me i could mail in the papers to enroll the baby in tricare prime bc today i got in the mail the forms to enroll in prime. so im not sure.

I'm pretty sure you can mail in the Tricare stuff! But as for DEERS I just really don't know.

yea because the women i talked to i was telling her my situation of not living on the base or what not. and she said she was gunna send me stuff in the mail and i got it today and its a tricare prime enrollment and obviously its not for me since im already enrolled so im assuming thats what its for but im going to call tomorow and ask just to make sure. then im going to call the deers office nearest me.

You will need to go into an enrollment office. You need your ID, POA, and a birth certificate and SS Card if you have it.. If you don't have a SS Card yet you will have to go back to have that added to your DEERS profile. I just did it for my daughter and have to go back with her SS Card since it took over 2 months to get it..
You need to have your child added to DEERS within 60 days to be able to get TriCare Prime, if you don't have it done within that time your child will only get TriCare Standard.. You can enroll your child in TriCare online once he/she is enrolled in DEERS.. https://www.hnfs.net/bene/home Go down to Beneficiary Web Enrollment (BWE) and choose the Link to BWE website option
Some places you need an appt. others take walk-ins on certain days.. Call the office closest to you to see what you need to do.. If you have any other questions please feel free to ask me and I'd be glad to help anyway I can.
