Molar Pregnancies

I ment to post this sooner, but it slipped my mind. I had a molar pregnancy and it was difficult to find more women that have been through the same thing, then I found this website. So I thought I would post it here for anyone else who wants to meet more people.

Im very sorry to hear that I had a molar pregnancy in 2006.

My doctor says she only gets one once every 2 years. But then again this is a military town, so theres alot of pregnancies going on.

Complete Mole


This occurs when the nucleus of an egg is either lost or inactivated. The sperm then duplicates itself because the egg was lacking genetic information. Usually there is no fetus, no placenta, no fluid and no amniotic membranes.
The uterus is rather filled with the mole that resembles a bunch of grapes. The fluid filled vesicles grow rapidly, which can make the uterus seem larger than it should be for gestational age. Because there is no placenta to receive the blood typically you will see bleeding into the uterine cavity or vaginal bleeding.

Partial Mole


This most frequently occurs when two sperm fertilize the same egg. There may be partial placentas, membranes or even a fetus present in a partial mole. However, there are usually genetic problems with the baby. Rarely, a partial mole will exist with twin pregnancy, however, the other twin rarely survives.

There are two types of Molar pregnancies. I had a complete mole.

oh goodness! I have never heard of that. and i'm sorry one that you had to go through the complications and pain of just that, and two that you had to lose your precious baby. (i know people saying sorry really doesnt mean anything to a lot of people thta lose their entire life it seems like.) But i can't imagine how hard it would hav emean on you guys. Good Luck Mama

lol Sorry is the last thing I wanted to hear the day I found out. But thanks anyway. I didn't know what it was either, I just went to my first U/S and (I had a bad feeling my whole 11wks of being pregnant, right before the midwife came in to give me the u/s I said to my fiance "what if there isn't a baby" and I was right.) The midwife didn't even wanna tell me what was wrong at first, she sent me to the bathroom while she talked to my fiance.

I hate when people say sorry too but i also feel like i should say it or im rude. lol. ok, ya it sucks for us mothers that lose their babies. But you also have to put yourself in the doctors' shoes or miswives'. They have to tell us that we lost them! ok.. you really want a hormonal pregnant woman coming at you? i think if i were them i'd say it really fast and then run away! lol.
