Just becuase people that YOu know didnt turn out that way, dosent mean the statistics are bullshit. They are MATH, numbers. They dont lie. Can they be misleading? Sure. Did you look at how the study was conducted, how many were surveyed, what the plus/minus was?

The truth is that MANY kids from broken homes have problems. Just like MANY kids born to teen parents have issues, or will be teen parents themselves. That dosent mean that ALL will. Its up to the parent to work hard to NOT be a statistic.

yes i understand that..and i am not only talking about kids in my neighbirhood.. i just threw that in there for good measure. I dont care about math and that i cant argue with it. The thing is ...who exactly are they surveying?

i remember participating in a study for one of my psych classes....and the vote in my class which was a lecture of about 400 students went the other way...and my professor said you are all wrong because statistics say so.. even if all 400 of us voted the other way. you get what im saying. So yes i can understand that thats what will most likely happen..but i think many of the girls use it as excuses..if many can get by and not get caught up..then so can the rest...but i guess alot more goes into..my home was as broken as anyone can name even though i did end up with a stepdad...but I am fine. but the statistic doesnt touch me ..but the others that chose to listen and be sucked in.

They have to survey more than just a class, they have toreview datafrom all regions of the country, all ethnic backgrounds, all socio-economic statuses. To get statistics published like that it has to be a fairly well done survey, these are not just some random numbers a guy got from calling 50 people or something. For something like this it is usually based off of published data, drop-out rates, teen pregnancy rates ect ect and put together into a larger grouping of statistics.

Statistics is an actual math/science, with formulas and rules. I have taken my fair share of stats. classes (much to my dismay lol) and its not some random thing.

Again, no one is forced to be a statistic. Just becuase those ARE the statistics, dosnet mean that you or people you know have to fall into those numbers.

i took statistics so i know...lol..and i still believe it to be crap. I believe everything is personal choice. because you have girls that come from 2 parent homes dogs parrot and a pool in the back yard..that still choose to do so. so even when they rally all the people of different ethnic backgrounds and blah blah blah.. i still believe in the end its not because they come from broken homes..but just because they want to.

if i wanted to be neighborhood ho right now..i could be..but that lifestyle wayy to tiring.

Well I think we agree on that, I said it in my post. Just because that it what the statistics are dosent mean that you have to fall into them. It dosent make them any less true for the snapshot in time that they were portraying though.

I am still not getting how you can fight statistics. Statistics change. One year they can be this and the next year they can be that. Even the pshyc. experiment that your professor did was not disproving statistics.

so maybe this statistic is no longer the statistic it used to be..maybe its changed. but unless we are the ones conducting them...we may never know.

i grew up with no father...and ive had sex with one man, the one im married to, went to a top notch academy and university in Japan and im not a trouble maker...so they can shove those stats up their asses~

my dad was hardly ever around.......and I dropped out, and got pregnant at 17. I wasnt a "slut", but I wasnt innocent either.....so I'm part of the statistic.
