Yeah that is true! My dad passed away when I was 7 and my sister 9. She is a single mother to 3 kids, went to college, has a bachelors degree in criminal justice and a major in Arts. I have been to college, no kids and I am 30. Statistics are statistics, but you also have to think of how many people they took that statistic on. Sounds like the OP is proving them wrong as well. Lets break that statistic.

(I only quoted you cause you were the closest at the time lol)

Well, based on the research and statistics its an accurate statement. But not everyone will fall into that statistic.

My father died when I was 12 and my sister was 10. I can honestly see the ramifications of his death on the paths we have taken in life - 2 different paths, but both influenced by the loss of our Dad.

I will do all I can to raise Kailyn in a way where she isnt suseptable to such behaviors, but I am thankful that these statistics exist so I know what to look out for.

well i can't speak for MOST mothers but my children won't live by this statistic. it's stupid!!! what about the children who do have fathers but they molest or beat them? do they grow up to be big successes? NO!!! most of them are our most notorius serial killers. i don't care what STATISTICS say. it's all up to the person raising them how the kid turns out...not whether they have a father or not. oh yeah...i went to high school with this girl. mom is a doctor, dad was a lawyer. she's an only child. but with her parents having such busy careers, they never paid her much attention. so who do you think had the reputation of being THE BIGGEST SLUT IN SCHOOL? that's right...her. i heard that this girl did some stuff that i don't think porn stars have ever done. so where's the statistic that talks about that?

What stereotype are you talking about?

Do you know what statistics are? People can use statistics in improper ways, and I'm sure people can and do use these statistics to reinforce their stereotypes, but the statistics themselves are not stereotypes - they're just numbers. Someone took the numbers of women raised in fatherless environments, and compared the numbers... and reported them. That's it. The numbers don't say anything about why the numbers are what they are.

Why are you so pissed off? These numbers exist BECAUSE these girls are living this way, for whatever reason. Blame the women who fuck up, don't blame the people who compile the data.

Fathers do play an important role in children's lives...not just daughters.

I believe it was Freud who had a theory that children fell in love with their opposite sexed parent. Now, if this parent 'breaks the heart' of said child, or fails them in major ways, it would have an impact. (At least according to Freud).

We are all effected by our first loves/relationships. First, being our parents...whether it's our mothers or fathers. If our parents betray our trust, than this teaches a child if a caregiver is capable of let downs and betrayal, then anyone is. This too, is applied to sexual relations as we get older. For example, I knew a guy who fell in love with his first girlfriend. They were serious and dated for a long time. She ended up betraying him. He then said screw putting all that effort in a relationship and became promiscuous, because he figured after his betrayal, that that's is all girls were worth. (His words.) This is sad, but I've seen this very often in male friends.

This is where the nature v nurture argument comes into play. What effects us more? Nature or nurture. The people who fall into negative statistics (IMO) are products of their nurture...whereas the people who have managed to be the exceptions are products of nature. At least, this is my theory.

Whether statistics are manipulated or not...I feel what is most important is to use these numbers as motivators to not become the negative statistic.
