Question about real food

posted 20th Jul
My daughter will be 6 months in a couple of days.
She crawls (real crawling, not scooting), sits on her own and will stand on her knees.
She has started stage 2 foods and loves them.
I have tried giving her the gerber graduates yogurt melts and she seemed to like them.
& she has 2 teeth

Question is, when can I try giving her small pieces of food? Like banana and such.
I know it all depends on the baby but I just cant imagine my baby eating food with 2 teeth xD I dont know HOW they do it LOL.

What do ya say?
THANKS!

They usually say wait till they are about 9 months. I was giving my niece and nephews soft table food shortly after they got teeth.

I think 6 mo. is a little young.. I waited until my daughter was around 9 or 10 mo. before I stopped pureeing everything, but she never got teeth until she was 10 1/2 mo. (and that was only the bottom 2!) she was able to chew and eat fine. I gave her things that dissolved easily (like rice puffs) and small pieces of squishy food.

ETA: She ate cheerios well too

You can give them things that you are already feeding her in the babyfood. For instance, I take a banana and put it in one of those self feeder mesh things.. my son is fine. Messy but fine. If I eat greenbeans I give him one mashed up, as long as there is no butter or any seasoning on it.

Yeah...mashed potatoes, soft veggies (green beans, carrots), pasta. You just have to experiment and see what she can chew.

Yes, so far I've put bananas and mangos in there and he LOVES it. He actually wouldnt eat baby food bananas until he ate the real thing. Now he loves bananas

i gave my baby mac and cheese and she stopped eating her jar food so we moved up to green beans and peas and stage 3 foods bucause they have chunks of food in them but she had her 2 bottom and was cutting her top teeth when we did this. Bananas are safe if you cut them up and watch her
