Getting infants ears pierced.

posted 20th Jul
How old was your child when you had it done, and how do you take care of it? I dont want to do it, but my mother-in-law and husbands aunt are insisting and will probably take her without our knowledge/permission so i just want to be prepared. His aunt has already gotten her first earrings and even though we've told them absolutely not! I dont think they will listen. Is there anything they can do to numb it so it doesnt hurt her?

What kind of family takes a little baby to get their ears pierced without the consent of the parents? Weird.

Anyways, I was 4 mos old when my mom took me and she just cleaned it with the stuff they give you at the shopso it wouldn't get infected.

Well here it isnt legal to get babies ears pierced even with a parents permission. If they do it without your permission I think ther could be some legal repercussions on the place that does it. I am not sure. It is odd that they insist to do that to your baby. Honestly she will cry for just a short time if she gets it done, kinda like a shot. But be careful when she gets older she doesnt pull them out and eat the earings.

Just look at it this way.

If your MIL takes your daughter to get her ears pierced.

You'll be rich because you can sue who ever did it because PARENTAL CONSENT is required to do any body modifications under the age of 18.

Just don't let them take the baby. If I were you I wouldn't let my child be alone with them. But I got Jae's done when she was 3 months and she was asleep when they did it and they did both sides at the same time. She cried for like maybe 2 minutes tops and end of story. You have to clean them 2-3 times a day for 6 weeks and turn the earrings twice a day.

I got my daughters Ears Pierced at 2 months (after her shots) They give you a solution to clean the ears.

Idk I would leave my daughter alone w/ someone who threatens to take her to get ears pierced w/out my permission...

Personaaly, l don't feel that a child shoukd get their ears pierced until they're old enough to ask for it (or at least agree to it). That's my plan w/ my daughter.

Thats just wrong if they do that behind your back!!
Ive been told to let your Pedi do it. b/c the ones at the stores arent fully sterile. and the ones they use at the DRs, are thown away after each use.
I wont get Aveires done till shes probably 10 yo. Thats when I got mine done, and I was old enough to take care of them.

I wouldn't leave the baby with the MIL or aunt alone if you think they are gonna take her without your knowledge. I would be so pissed.

My plan as well. My parents pierced my ears at a young age and honestly if it was up to me I wouldn't have chose to have them done.

My mom pierced my ears at 8 weeks. She said it was done in the doctor's office.
And your in-laws probably won't take your baby and pierce her ears. It'd be illegal and they should know that. They're just bluffing.

well sometimes, its a cultural thing, cause i know in some latin countries babies get their ear pierced really young, i had mine done maybe a month after i was born, but as the parent you should definetly have the authority to say yes or no to this

My oldest was like 18 months, when I got hers done... bad age to do it... we got them repierced when she was turning 3. My second we got her done at 3wks... and our baby we got hers done at 4wks. I think it is much easier when they are newborns to do it. It's not hard to clean either... you just turn the ear rings twice a day, and put the ear solution stuff they give you to clean them with... and you also do that twice a day. Not hard at all to take care of it.

Who did them that they let you get them done that early? All the places I asked said they wouldn't do it until she had at least her first set of shots. None of those places believed me she was 3 months and it was a huge hassle.
