re: Getting infants ears pierced.

His family isnt from the Us, and where they are everyone gets their infant girls ears pierced, its like getting immunizations, they do it at the doctor. So to them its really odd that we dont want her ears pierced. Its just something everyone does. I'm sure his aunt thinks we are silly because she had grandsons and she's dying to take our girl (1st baby girl in the family in 32 years) to get it done.

That was totally my plan too. We never even thought about it, but its tradition to buy a baby gold when its born, and his mom was telling us everything people got her and she said his aunt got her earrings.  We've told them no, but we are going there for 3 weeks next month, and I know we wont have our daughter 24/7 with us, so I'm just expecting (preparing) myself if she takes her anyway. And I doubt there's such a thing as parental permission in Turkey. The Grandma would probably overrule us even if there is.

I don't envy your situation. I believe that I would react violently if somebody pierced my daughter's ears without my knowledge and consent. Perhaps you should reconsider going or just don't let her out of your sight.
