umbilical hernia?

I changed my baby's diaper yesterday and when I was rubbing his tummy I noticed that his belly button was sticking out farther than normal. I pushed down on it and it felt like there was fluid in it or something? It doesn't seem to hurt him or make him uncomfortable...but I just wanted to know if any of you have heard of this or if any of your babies had this. Just want to know if I should get it looked at. When I looked it up it said (if this is what it is) is harmless and usually goes away by the 1st bday.

My neice is about a month old and had a really bad one when she was born but it has gone down considerably.Just show the doc at the next well baby check up, it is not urgent unless it is causing him pain.Most go away in the first 6 months or so.

my son has one and i took him to the dr and they said its fine.
u just have to worry if it gets hard or u cant push it in or if it changes colors like black or blue.. and it should go away on its own.

Averie had one. And out grew it. She now has an outtie belly button.
I took her to the dr once b/c it looked funny, and they said it was normal.
As long as I could push it all the way down, and it will pop back up it was fine. They said A LOT of tummy time to get those muscles strong, will help it. If you feel it loks funny, take him to the DR. But Averies was the size of a grape almost.

My baby has one. Never seen one before now, but it seems like it doesn't bother him. He just turned one and the doctors said it should go away by age 5 if not then he can get surgery I hope it goes down by then. His father had one when he was a baby so chances are it came from him although his was on his scrotum ouch!  

My daughter has one and the doctor said it is very common and they usually outgrow them. Have your doctor look at it and more than likely, as long as it does not become pinched off, they will just keep an eye on it.

I was born with an abdominal hernia. I know my parents knew about it at birth, but other than that I'm not to sure what the doctors did. I know it didn't require surgery and my belly button is fine
