Mari might have cerebral palsy

posted 20th Jul
OK, i've been trying to keep it my hopes up and let it go but Mari might have a very slight form of cerebral palsy. Her physical therapist and neurologist threw the term out there to us a few months ago and recently brought it back up to us. Now that Mari is begining to learn how to walk and becoming more mobile they are seeing more signs of it. If she indeed does have it, it only is slightly affecting her left leg and left arm. When we put her on her little ride on toys she will not move her left leg, and when we walk with her holding her right hand she will not move. When she crawls her left side will give out and she will fall and hit her face. When i was in labor with her she stayed in the birth canal for 3 days and was extremely swollen at birth. Please keep her inyourthoughts and prayers.

My dad has/had a slight form when he was younger. I believe at some point during his very early childhood he might have had leg braces. But in his high school days he played baseball and golf and was very normal. He has a very very, almost unnoticeable limp, on his one side. And he writes a little slow. But otherwise, he is happy, healthy, and had a very normal life
I will pray for you and your family!

well luckily it sounds like if she does have it its only a mild form of it. my friend justin that i went to school with has this and now you would never be able to tell really. when he mentions it a lot of people are like really? i would have never guessed. i only know because it was slightly more noticeable when we were younger and because he talked about. i wouldnt have really known otherwise. its not such a big deal for him.

i do feel sorry for those that have a serious case of it tho. my coworkers step daughter has this and she walks with braces now but she was in a wheel chair. so she is getting better slowly but surely.

AWW that sucks but its not really a bad thing. You just have a special child on your hands just remeber that. My son is specail needs and prolly will be for the rest of his life because of autisum but i knwo thats nothing like cerebral palsy. But i did know a girl that had it in school but a much worse case and she went on to college so dont worry things will work out fine. I hope everything works out for you and your family!
