dont wanna buy an entire new travel system

posted 20th Jul
The stroller is great. Its a stroller that doesnt really give me problems but one and its a very significant one.

She doesnt like the carseat. I'm using the Graco Quattro Tour Travel System

I had to change the headrest thing for one thats slightly bigger cuz her head bounces around. It solved her crying for a while. But she CRIIIES and CRIIIES like she hasnt been fed in 3 days or something.. I've looked for weeks, all the other graco carseats seem to have the same style, just different features.

Do I really need to get another travel system? I'm looking at chicco.. looks alot more comfortable. but I dont wanna spend the money if I dont have to.. Its so annoying.. What do you guys think?

I don't think you should. As she gets older, she will get more used to it.

Have you tried getting those head things that go in the car seats and stablize the head a little better?

Why don't you just get a different car seat? My infant seat was not part of a travel system...I bought the stroller and seat separately. If you don't want to get another infant seat, you could get a convertible seat that will last you a long time and you'll need it anyway when she outgrows the infant seat.

Now that my son doesn't fit safely in his infant seat, we use the convertible seat but still bring the infant seat along so he has something to sit in when we go out to eat.

Have you tried her in other seats? She might just hate all carseats, don't spend your money if you don't have to. Some babies just don't like them, so try putting her in the ones at the store first, or better yet borrow one from a friend for a day and see how she fairs. Gracos seats are great so theres a good chance shes just being stubborn-maybe she associates it with the car and she doesn't like driving? Worst case scenario, buy another one and sell yours online. If its like new you could get a lot for it. Try craigslist. Good luck!

The convertible seat sounds perfect. I did realize she may get used to it when she gets older, but you just have to hear how she cries..

I mean we dont even take it down from the car except for when we're home so it wont get hot. I know she cries cuz she doesnt like the way she's sitting. Her swing is pretty much the same and she cant be in there for more than 3 minutes..

I wouldn't. More than likely she won't be happy in any car seat, some babies just hate their car seats until they get more used to them. And the graco quattro is a really good one. I definitely would not spend the money on a new one. Have you made sure that the straps aren't too tight? The nurse at the health center said you should be able to slip your finger under at the shoulder- that being siad they still need to be tight enough to be safe of course   Good luck!

I will look into that,, I have a relative using chicco but I've only seen them once. They live kinda far. I'll try stores I guess, Didnt know you can do that..

If she's anything like my son (we so had this problem and still do.) it's not so much about the car seat but that she's not in your arms, and once in the car it get's even worse...*Gasp* she can't see you!!! unless you can & do actually fit back there with her, than it's all about your arms!! But maybe try rolling a receiving blanket if you think her head flops too much, Khym was too big for the smaller size head rest/rolls, and yet too small for the bigger ones. Also if it's not level with the ground(not car) it may cause more discomfort and head flopping.

Actually, not really. She likes to watch tv a lot. or stare into something random and she thinks its funny. Even the wall. She can be by herself a lot and she won't really fuss unless she's bored or something.

I dunno maybe its all of it put together. I'm always in the back with her, and if not someone else is. Her crying isn't as bad when the car moves.. she cries then stops, cries then stops. It's just that the last ride was like whoa.
