No, it's not.. my daughter cannot drink milk, she gets her necessary nutrients from other things. She is perfectly healthy.

Edited to add- Just because your daughter doesn't drink milk, that doesn't give you the right to advise someone else that milk " isn't necessary".

Don't roll your eyes at me. I'm a nurse, and I'm not going to argue with you about something that you obviously don't know much about.

The fats, the calcium, the vitamin D.. Yes, all very necessary for a toddler.. However, cow's milk is not a necessity.. there are other things that can provide all those things for a child.

So, since milk is so necessary I should just feed it to my daughter even though she gets raging diarreah? lol OK!

Well obviously there are going to be exceptions when it comes to allergies and such, but that still does not warrant you stating that milk is not necessary.

Well, technically it's not.. or the "exceptions" would be unhealthy little people, right?.. There's other things she can feed her child while transitioning to milk, it takes awhile for a toddler to warm up to new things sometimes. She does not need to add processed sugary flavors to it.. jmo..

You are not getting my point. If you read back, I never stated that she should add chocolate or strawberry because that isn't something that I would recommend, or consider healthy.

Pediasure is fine, just keep trying with the milk and watch for reactions.

I would never EVER add chocolate or stawberry flavoring to milk for a child that young!!! Nor would I advise another parent that milk isnt a necessity when in reality for most children it is.

You dont need to do 75%formula to 25% milk. You can start even more gradually by making large quantities at once. If you know she takes 24 ozs a day use a big container to mix all 24 ozs at once, and put like 4oz milk and 20 ozs formula.Or 2 oz milkto 22oz formula. Maybe she needs a more gradual transition?

Or, substitute one feeding a day with the milk/formula mix and just be consistant with it - I would suggest a mid-day meal when she isnt starving like she would be first thing in the morning.

Or, continue to offer milk and/or a mixture of milk/formula in a sippy throughout the day.

You could consider the Next Step formula - if she will take that it would be a happy medium for a while.

You could look into trying soy milk? I would check with your doc though, since I dont know if thats a good substitute for whole cows milk.

Does she like other things made with whole milk? Yogurt, cheese, etc?

Good luck!

It takes them 17 tries to get used to a new flavor, so just be consistant and she will take it. Most babies don't like it in the begenning, but the older she gets the harder it will be for her to take a new flavor so if you mixed it now, you would end up giving her chocolate milk for the rest of her life and really setting her up for falure.
