Optifast . . . NE1 tried this?

posted 20th Jul
I am on my last baby! 3 was my number and he will be here soon. I have let my body go in the last years after having 2 kids and now I am ready to start losing weight about 3 months after the baby gets here. I have been looking for weight loss clinics and came across a clinic that does a program called optifast were the average weight loss on this 12 week program is 52 lbs. Has anyone heard of this program or tried it? Let me know cause I don't want to go spending hundreds of dollars on a program that doesn't work!! Thanks!! I want to lose about 50-70 lbs that would get me down to highschool size so that may be cutting it but hey that is my real goal haha!!

I've done it. I ended up only losing 30 lbs but I cheated towards the end. It was extremely hard for me to do it and watch other people eat. I also did it thrueout thanksgiving and my birthday so maybe that had something to do with it. Other people in my same group did it and the average weight loss was 50 lbs. It also depends on your size. The bigger you are, the more likely you are to lose quickly. You have to be really commited to losing the weight though because if not you will just put it back on when you start eating again.

I have heard of it, I think it is kind of like a liquid diet? You can probably lose a good amount of weight on this plan, just make sure you have a good eating plan for when you go off the diet! I know many people who have gone on expensive diet plans like this and they have gained their weight back after going off the planbecause they haven't changed their eating habits and lifestyle. I hear that weight watchers is a really good plan, although the weight does come off a little slower. Good luck in whatever you try, I'll be in the same boat as you after I have this baby......I have kinda let myself go as well!

Was the program pretty pricey? I am really going to look into this program. Its through a weight loss center and its medically watched while your on it so that is good. Thanks for your reply!! Do you mind me asking . . . how long were you on it while you lost the 30 lbs.?

It was quite expensive when I did it.I ended up just basically paying for the shakes since I live in Canada where we have an amazing health care system and it still costed around $3000.I did it thrue a local hospital so it was also medically supervised and I did the opti-fast shakes for the entire 12 weeks. Alot of other people who did the program were extremely successful. It also depends on how much you have to lose. Some of the people there weighed around 400 lbs so they lost a good 100 lbs thrue it. I was 215 lbs when I did it and I was one of the smallest people there.
