Wow, $200??? I spent maybe, MAYBE $25 for my son last year. And the majority was for a backpack. So far, this year, I spent $5. All I need to get now is a box of tissues ans anti-bacterial wipes. Im picking up a new backpack for when his other one gives out.

Just wanted to let you guys know that Walmart and Target are having a great sale on items!!!! At Target they have rulers, pencil sharpeners and glues sticks for $ .20! Walmart has a great deal on other things too.

I will not get a supply list until I have orientation in late August does anyone know if they use college ruled paper in kindergarten?

My son is going into first grade, and they want wide ruled. The kindergarten kids need wide ruled as well. Not saying it will be the same there, but probably will.

Thanks. I have thought about it and the only paper I remember using in kinder was that brown paper with the two solid lines and the dotted line in the middle ( IDK what it is called). I will get a little of both just to be sure. I am positive she will eventually use the college ruled paper.

If I remember correctly, the list for all classes (up to 5th grade) asked for wide ruled paper.

Actually, the only thing NOT on the supply list was paper. All I had to get was construstion paper, and copy paper. I kinda thought it was weird. Maybe they are going to run off stuff for them to write on. Who knows! All I have left to buy is shoes. That will be about $50 bucks, so in all I will have spent$650 on cloths, shoes, and supplies. At least I know to start saving fornext year though, right~

LOL, they asked for toilet paper but no paper to write on? That just seems odd. I am going shopping for shoes and what not tomorrow. I love the fact that I have a huge outlet mall right next to me! I am usually able to get a good pair of name brand shoes for around $20. And they have a Children's place, which is where I get a lot of her clothes at. I never in a million years thought I would be excited to go school shopping. It reminds me of that Staples commercial with "It's the Most Wonderful Time of the Year" song playing. The only difference is before I throw anything into the cart I will be checking the prices and looking at cheaper alternatives.

I know exactly what you mean I picked up my sons supply list fo PRE K last week and I thought I was gonna have a heart attack I cant believe all the stuff I had to buy and how picky they were about the brand of the items, and half the stuff isnt even for my child I think Im supplying the whole class and the teacher. If that wasnt bad enough on the bottom of the list it said "Teachers may ask for additinal items at orientation."

I could see myself sitting there right in front of the teacher with a black marker going "you dont need this (cross it out) you dont need this (cross it out) you DONT need that! (cross it out TWICE!)"

i live in texas and let me tell you i completely understand the frustration of school supplies. My son is going to be in the fifth grade this year and my daughter will be in 1st. the crap they asked for was outrageous! The walmart here had the sale. Thank God too. We bought both of theirs for about 50 bucks. You might check and see what kind of scores the school gets. Lower the score the more you end up buying i have found out. Some teachers think of some stupid things. But if they are asking for a certian color usually thats the color they are giving for the class. I know as my kids have gotten older it has gotten cheaper.
