I buy one box of off brand EVERYTHING. Glue, glue sticks, crayons, markers, tissues, and pencils. I don't get stuff that's supposed to be supplied by the school, like the tennis balls for the chairs , dry erase markers, or copy paper. But what I do buy I get off-brand so I'm not wasting my money on stuff that gets thrown into a "share box." In kindergarten I put her name on everything and it didn't matter, her teacher still threw it all in one box and everyone used it. I learned from that mistake.

Did they not ask for a supply box? When I went and at the school my daughter will be going to they have their things seperate but we are also military so if a parent doesnt provide what the child needs thenthe parent gets in troubleso no one has to share those things. I guess off base its just so parents who do slack off like that dont end up costing their child an education so everyone shares and no one gets left out.

I HATE parents who send their kids to school with nothing at all. I saw that off and on growing up and I just think its terrible.

You can check the school website if they have one. A lot of the supply lists on there. You will need multiples in kindergarden which isnt bad if you find the sales like I got 5 boxes of crayons for $1 although my daughter only needed three. Normal price was $1 each. You dont have to send it all to school on the first day though. Its good to keep it at home until they need it which is what I am doing.

No they didn't. Our list consisted of the essentials. I bought them and then found out that it was all going into one big box for everyone to share. This was kindergarten, and my first child, so of course I bought all name brand stuff. Last year for 1st grade, I was wiser, and just bought the off-brand crayons, glue and other stuff, and skipped the tennis balls, copy paper, dry-erase markers, and all that on the list.

I tried looking it up last night but the site totally sucks. Everything is still blank I know that last year you could pick the list up from the schools at the store but I havent seen that yet.

You would think so wouldnt you?? I had to buy a 24 pack of "Angel Soft" for him to take. It is slap ass crazy. I think I have decided to keep the stuff here, and send it if they say they need it later on in the year.

I just remember using that industrial paper thin toilet paper that you find in all public restrooms. I also remember every single other thing like crayons and even pencils being supplied for me in kinder. When I went on to 1st grade I had to bring pencils and paper and that was about it. I am not poor but I am not about to go poor buying a bunch of school supplies that I was under the impression that my tax dollars paid. Not to mention all that useless crap that I buy from school fundraisers. I do not get a tax write-off from the 100's that I spend on my daughter's school supplies, the school and the teacher's do. I will help in anyway that I can, but that just seems silly.

I will not get my daughter's shopping list until orientation in August, but I know that I will only be buying the basics.

It was all stuff for the class not Ky!!! 2 boxes of 24 count Crayola! crayons, dry erase markers, diaper wipes and REFILLS! Crayola Markers and colored pencils, a roll of paper towels and 2 boxes of tissue. I was livid. Then we just got our property taxes bill, $800 to school tax!!!!!! When i was in school all we had to bring was 1 box of kleenex. Plus when we go meet the teacher we have to give her all the supplies. I just dont know!!! I dont understand this where is all the money going??

Yeah thats why the extras dont go to school with her so she can keep her supply box at school and still have stuff at home to do her homework. They did ask for 6 glue sticks but I remember how fast those things would be gone in kindergarden and how the glue bottles would get clogged up or dry outbecause kids would forget to close them all the way. What do you expect out of a 5 and 6 year old? Doesnt bother me cause I dont buy extras for the school and all multiples stay at home.

If they went to teaching stores (I'm talking about the teachers, not the parents) like we do at work for the preschool, then they could get the really huge gluesticks that last about 4 times as long. I mean the glue sticks and stuff like that I don't mind, but it's when I have to supply your pens, copy paper, dry erase markers (and chalk in some of the older schools in my county), and tennis balls for your chairs, Really? Why do you need those EVERY year? Can't they just stay on the chairs?
