re: School Supplies

It gets worse, sorry. Wait until they get older. I'm already dreading this year, we will have 5 in school, from pre-school to high school. *shudders*
Last year we had 3 shopping carts full and we had to go to Wal-mart, Target and Office Max to get everything.
The only thing I can say is that I do have a feel for what they ask for now, so I buy in bulk ahead of time and keep certain things in supply, so I already have it. That helps a bit. They can also pass the expensive calculators down to the younger one, when they need a more expensive calculator.
But, with older kids, you need to take into consideration how active they are in school activities and sports. There is the equipment and fees for that as well.

And i will send a note back telling them to kiss my big, fat, white, arse!! I WILLNOT buy anything else this year!! No way No how!! I will send lunch money, and thats about all! I quit my job to make sure that Jonathan does not have to ride the bus, and to be a room mom, and to make sure I have enough energy to help him with his homework and all. So Money is going to get really tight around here! It will be worth it though!

My 3 year old's preschool uses them   haha! Isn't that cute, yet crazy at the same time. I'm terrified I will have to buy the school a new computer because of what that child has the potential to do to things.

Yep, I have worked in a school here in VA and they kids bring everything in and the teacher puts it in a cabinet and gives it all out when needed, sad thing is we almost always had things left that carried over too the next year.

That makes sense, but they will have to find a special place for my round container, cause I couldnt find a box!!

Yup.. just say it happends.. I always feel obligated to buy thoes other items.. cuz i dont want my kids feel like they are left out from the other students... they will have the stuff they need, but your child, will have to share with another student, and that student might hate your kid because of it... i was picked on alot as a child, i dont want my kids to be picked on, so i try and do what ever i can to prevent it.. just something to think about,...

In a few counties here they issue kids lap tops starting in the 4th grade too complete homework. Kenneth was going to computer lab in daycare at the age of 3 and now knows more than I do

Teachers should not have to buy either! The goverment SHOULD supply the stuff! I thought that was the original point of public schools. So that everyone could afford an education! I think that Schools should be #1 on the list of priorities! Instead, it is low on the list, and that is sorry!

Awww... I know   I will too... But it still sucks!! I have gone way over board to try and make sure Jonathan has the best of the best... I won't be able to do it all next year (with the no job and all)

Well, this is his first year, so I wanna do this right. But next year, I won't but multiples of anything. I will get one of each thing, and that is all. You can't tell me that my SON is going to use a whole 24 pack of toilet paper this year, all by himself... He only poops once a day, and chances are that he will be doing that at home!! (If he is anything like his daddy anyhow)

I know. We get paid very little and they say well my school board says its not their responsibility!! It doesnt matter though because if you dont supply everything the district will come back at give you a lecture!

i worked in a school and half the stuff they make parents buy they don't even use it all! It's rediclous!!! I'm sorry it cost so much!
