Diaper Rash

posted 19th Jul
I noticed today that my 5 week old has a really raw and red bum. It's so raw that when I wipe it it bleeds a little. I feel soo bad for him. What should I use....baby powder or balmex?? Does anyone know which one is better to use for his red bum?

not powder, use the balmex or A&D ointment, maybe instead of baby wipes use warm washcloths instead? that might feel better on his bottom, good luck i hope he feels better soon!

It could be a yeast rash... there's some stuff called gentian violet you can get at most drug stores that's supposed to help, also check for thrush in the mouth..

my son got a real bad rash at 3 weeks old and destin was not working. My mom bought me some protecting powder called Caldesene. It worked great. she used it with me and my 3 brothers and we never got diaper rash. You have to be careful with powder, makesure they don't breath it in. You can get it at Walgreen and Longs and I am sure other pharmacy type stores

My baby got a bad rash due to diarrhea, and the pedi said to use a white cream, that the A&D if it was clear could make it worse....also she said to let her butt soak in a baking soda bath. It did help. If you are to concerned, call you pedi
