bleaching your hair during pregnancy...

I asked my doctor what her opinion on dying your hair during your pregnancy was, and she said she personally dyed hers during both of her pregnancies, after her first trimester. She says different doctors have their own opinions on rather they think it's safe or not, but there are no actual studies proven that it can harm your baby.
So, I take it hair dye is fine, but what about bleach? My hair is blonde, and I need to redo my roots REAL bad, but I use a certain brand of bleach. Do you guys know if bleach would be the same aspect as other dyes, or is it actually more harmful?

I would think it would be okay...so long as you are in an area that is very well ventilated. It's the fumes that pose more of a risk then the actually dye. Maybe do some online research just to be sure

I specificially asked my doctor about dye AND bleach during my first pregnancy, and she said it was ok after the first triemester. I wanted to make sure, because I know sometimes the chemicals in bleach can be a little stronger. I guess just follow the same rules--Well ventilated room and whatnot.

It's more harmful. Trust me, those chemicals are INTENSE!
Anything that touches your scalp goes into your bloodstream.
I only do highlights on all my pregnant clients.
My roots are awful right now too, I'm waiting till my 2nd trimester.
And I'd NEVER put bleach to my scalp.

I bleached my hair last time I was pregnant and I've done it this time too, my doctor said its fine.

lightener shouldnt be on the scalp either....wat volume or peroxide do you use

and also, I'm 23 weeks along -- waay out of my first tri.

i honestly say its your decision i have always colored my hair while preggers.. but i also do hair and have my license for it so i get to play around with colors for free..

yeah my Dr said after 12 weeks I could dye my hair. Roots take to bleach a lot faster anyways so it is not as though you would have it in for a very long time.

ugh.. i had the same question, im constantly changing my hair and everything else i have thats changable.. and people would always be like "uhh yeah thats cute and all but, isnt that bad for the baby?" uhhh no. at the place i went to have it bleached out TWO of the ladies where about to pop their babies out any minutes and said that its perfectly fine.. ive even had people try to tell me MAKEUP is bad for the baby.. shut up. i might as well put myself in a bubble in the basement and not come out till im delivering.. damn.
