its very worth it. it gives you about 5 gallons of milk a month, and you get like5-8 juices a month, a pound of cheese, a couple boxes of cereal, a jar of peanut butter, beans or carrots, and about 3 cartons of eggs. im sure it varies on where you live but i applied for it the moment we became pregnant. they are always freakin suprised when they find out we were trying for the baby. they do get annoying because they are just social workers and dont realize our baby wasnt an accident and that we are prepared, and they try and educate you so to speak, and its funny cause i know way more about pregnancy than them, and i make sure they know it, because they realy get on my nerves sometimes. but with the economy and the way groceries cost now, it DEFINETELY HELPS. blessings

I got on it because I thought it would help me eat better and help me fill our fridge and cabinet with food so I didn't have to spend so much with my own money (and for formula after the baby is born)...but really it hasn't done me much good. I get 3 checks for a month each, check has a different amount and type of food that I can get. One check says I can get 2 gallons of milk, as if I even drink a half gallon! I rarely drink milk and having all of that just fills up my fridge with more stuff I don't eat/drink. The juice and cereal are nice to have, but I don't eat many eggs or peanut butter. Lol. So all in all I really don't think I should have gotten on it, but it will be good to have after the baby is born. It's just me and my boyfriend right now, so I find myself giving milk and some of the food away to other people. Bleh.

I get cheese, milk, eggs, cereal, and peanut butter. It is well worth it. Depending on what you want, you'll get certain things. At first I was getting 2 gallons of milk a month but I switched and now I get 5.

They take something away though. Like, I get less cheese now, but I don't really care, lol.

I know, I mean really it's not that much but when your saving up for a baby the extra 50 or so dollars a month makes a difference. Plus if you breast feed you get it even longer. And if you formula feed they give you formula for the baby.

I don't drink regular milk because it makes me sick so I usually just get the juice and whatnot. But it's totally worth it, half the time my coupons expire because I'm too afraid to use them to get more because I don't want all this food going bad. I know here though they are going to stop using the checks and give you a debit card type deal which will be SO much easier for me because sometimes I don't want all the items listed on the check.

and you don't have to get all the stuff, you just don't get the coupon or wahtever back. I never get the eggs cause I don't need that many eggs, I only get eggs about once a month.

In NY state, you get checks from WIC.  They gave me 3 months worth at a time, and you have to go for an appointment with them every 3 months and get your next checks. The checks were for milk, cheese, peanut butter, cereal, juice, eggs.  I think that's everything.  You can substitute dry beans for the PB.  Each check has a certain amount of food you need to get and a $ amoutn you cannot go over, and you have so many checks to spend for each month.  I am not sure how it works when you have the baby, because I only qualified while I was pregnant. Hope that helped!

i know, I mean usually i'll just use the coupon and then not get whatever item I still have more of. But the cashiers always make me feel guilty like "umm so you don't want your pound of cheese?" ha.

and I usually drink soy milk. Regular milk just makes me poop a lot.

It is very helpful. I don't use all of my checks a month though because it's way too much milk for me and too much juice sometimes etc but you don't have to use them and so it's nice to be able to use them when you need the stuff since everythings so expensive nowadays!
