baby momma , Baby daddy.....
is it so hard to say my childs father, or my childs mother....
Do people not have enough respect for themselves to not use this poor slang.

Sorry I guess I'm just an old fuddy duddy.

I with you guys. The term "baby daddy" drives me up a freakin' wall. It sounds trashy and uneducated. Just put an -'s in there, and you'll go from gutter rat to English professor in no time! It's not that complicted. =\

Yeah, I definitely don't like the term "baby's daddy".

I say "my baby's father" though...if we were together I probably wouldn't even refer to him as that, he'd just be my boyfriend...but since we're not that's the easiest way to refer to him.

I am totally with you 100%. Just because me and the father of my son aren't together EVERYONE calls him my "baby daddy". And it gets so frustrating. To me it feels very degrading.

Oh it is so nice to see someone else share this opinion!

On a personal level regrding this topic: I once had a teen momonhere, who disagreed with something I had said in response to a post, try to insult me by using 'baby daddy' to imply that my relationship and our resulting child were some sort of Jerry Springer nightmare. I'm a 33 year old adult who was married. had a child, and then was divorced. I later met my now fiance and we decided to start to try to conceive a child before getting married as neither of us was getting any younger (he is now 47) and he had been told in a past relationship (when he was married btw) that he might have difficulty conceiving. Lo and behold, the first month we didn't use bc, I became pregnant. We feel extremely blessed and excited. We in no way live some sort of white-trash ghetto lifestyle and yes- I found it extremely disrespectful and insulting to have someone refer to my fiance as a 'baby daddy'. He is my child's father and I feel so incredibly lucky to be able to say that.

Me and my friends use the term and I don't see how it would mean that we were disrespecting ourselves... I don't see the problem with it unless it is used in excess.... Then you just sound stupid... but it doesn't bother me very much...

YES i agree it is very poor worded and i would be offended to be called a baby momma by my husband, lucky me he thinks its trashy slang too. actualy he and i were both appaled when barack obamas wife was out on stage to announce him and she said, "my babies daddy" barack obama! i thought, ya know, learn proper talk if you want anything to do with a public spotlight. sheesh.
