Hobbies..?!?!

posted 19th Jul
So I have already posted one topic that is kind of related to this one but what the hell... Im driving myself crazy waiting for this baby to come.. I sit around the house all day because it's to hot to venture outside, and will myself to go into labor but to no avail.. I read like 3 books a week already and I was wondering if anybody has any ideas for some good hobbies that are cheap and time consuming that I could take up to kind of get my mind off of when and how Im going to go into labor..

writing. journal entries about your pregnancy the baby, anything. But if you do make it about the baby I'd fix it so when they got older they could see how you felt how excited you were. Or maybe what you were going through.

you could try scrapbooking....it can get expensive but you can get creative with just colored papers and markers....i rarely use stickers in mine and i think it turns out really good

I make jewelry....you can get free books at the library and then just buy beads, gage 20 wire and needle nose plyers for a few bucks....or you can buy a kit for like 12 to 20 bucks....I think its fun.

I did that too. But with my daughter I was put off work 3 weeks early, so I read crocheted wrote etc. But I was still going through the whole nesting thing. That took up my whole pregnancy pretty much. As silly as it sounds.

I like debating. I don't say that just because this is D&D, heh. I find it's an enjoyable way to spend time if you've got nothing else to do.

Puzzles! Writing (anything - stories, journal, random thoughts); painting (in my case it was fish on the walls of the nursery) or those little plaster animals you can buy at craft stores; making necklaces and bracelets; taking pictures; sleeping (wish I had done more of that when I was pregnant); learning to cook; baking cookies, putting them in fancy tins and giving them to your friends to fatten them up and make them look like they're pregnant too...

My last weeks of pregnancy I was making bracelets and anklets out of coloured floss... Easy and fun to do while watching a movie, and stuffing your face with popcorn   the floss isnt all that expensive either, it's pretty cheap!!

another thing thats even cheaper is to buy a 3 ring binder with the plastic pages you can put stuff in...may cost 5 bucks...and if you have baby magazines you can cut out articles yuo find to be neat or helpful, also info printed offline...

then you will have a ready made book of all helpful hints and info...and you can make it look nice

How about journaling and writing to the baby? Maybe painting, cross-stitiching, decoupaging, cross-words, researching and doing aancestory project to pass down.Perhaps cooking and freezing meals in order to be prepared forwhen the baby arrives so you don't have to bother cooking just reheating? My other suggestion is to just sit and do nothing by yourself all day everyday! I wish I could do that now with a 4 yr old though impossible.

Wow you guys all gave great answers!! I didn't think I would get so many ideas so fast!! lol Thats wat i really love about this website. It can keep me entertained for an hour or so or until my feet start swelling and i need to put them up!! I like the scrapbooking idea, I used to do it when I was younger and then after a while i just stopped.. don't really know why. Crosswords are a bit to hard for me and I end up getting frustrated and cheat and look at the answers in the back.. heehee.. I journal a little bit from time to time but I mostly get writers block. Im really good at quilting and knitting but only when im making the blankets for my friends for birthdays or wedding gifts, I never really thought of jewelry..! good idea, my mom has all sorts of beads and stuff like that!! Thanks to all!!
