so im pretty sure 99.9% of first time parents to be are scared of going into labor..like me. so I have thought up some questions that might ease some of their worries..(and mine lol)

1. How did the I.V feel?
2. Whatwas the most painful thing about being in labor/giving birth other than contractions?
3. Did you feel nervous about having so many people looking between your legs? lol
4. how did it feel when they check you to see howmuch you have dialated.
5. what was the best medicine you had for pain other than a epi?and how long did it last?
6. how did your contractions feel?
7. what hurt worse....the epidural or the I.V.

1.The i.v. didn't hurt bad at all, and im petrified of needles.
2.It was the contractions for me.
3.Yeah, but it wasn't bad at all.
4.You have medicine so it doesn't hurt.
5.I forget the name but seriously like 15-20 min,
6.They hurt after awhile like really bad cramping.
7. Epidural but it still wasn't that bad.

And I just went through all this for the 1st time wednesday so all my answers are still fresh in my head!

1. How did the I.V feel? Not a big deal - and remember there is a chance you won't have one unless you are absolutely having an epidural an IV is usually unnecessary
2. Whatwas the most painful thing about being in labor/giving birth other than contractions? The most painful thing is the crowning of the babies head - or the ring of fire as doctors and midwives call it - it burns ... hurts stretches and in some cases rips - but it lasts a very short time in comparison to labor - intense transition labor is the worst part (right before pushing begins)
3. Did you feel nervous about having so many people looking between your legs? lol Absolutely and after about 10 minutes I could have cared less... I had co-workers, friends, family, midwives ... everyone looking at my vagina and watching - to top it off I pooped pushing Rofl ! Yay for me !
4. how did it feel when they check you to see howmuch you have dialated. uncomfortable but its par for the course
5. what was the best medicine you had for pain other than a epi?and how long did it last? I never had any pain relief - all natural for me for my 5 vaginal deliveries.
6. how did your contractions feel? take 2 icecubes, hold them as tightly as you can one in each hand , once it starts to burn and hurt hold on for 15 more seconds, release and wait 1 minute- repeat ... very similar to a contraction in discomfort (not in pain)
7. what hurt worse....the epidural or the I.V.Umm the labor ... (then epi, then IV ... but seriously you'll forget in no time)

1. you get used to the I.V.
2.I think when I ripped when the baby came out or when they kneed on your stomach afterwards
3. by the end of your pregnancy so many people have seen it anyways and you want the baby out its the last thing on your mind!
4.it hurts they like stick there whole hand up you
5.I think they gave me naproxen and I felt good lol it lasted atleast a cpl hours but I got the epi before it wore off
6. like a major cramp then no cramp and so on
7.I.V. they gave me numbing medicine before the epi didnt feel it at all if you move your arms alot with an I.V. in it is annoying an dbothersome I think!

1. The IV didn't hurt, but it was annoying after they took off the bag to still have that thing in my arm
2. Having my son stuck and the pressure of his shoulders trying to get through a space that was too small. Other then that, the most painful part was not pushing when they told me i couldn't yet.
3. You really don't care at that point. They could march a school tour through there and you don't care JUST GET IT OUT!
4. Like getting a pap, but a little bit rougher. Paps hurt for me, so this did too.
5. I didn't have anything
6. I had back and front labour, so it felt like someone was trying to pull my head backwards and into my ass, and at the same time, trying to pull me forwards to put my head between my legs. It was highly unpleasant
7.Didn't have and epi, so I can't compare.

1. With my first baby, the IV didn't hurt at all, but with my second, the nurse didn't do it right...You gotta make sure that the nurse knows what she's doing! Don't be afraid to ask!
2. Other than contractions, I'd say pushing...It felt like burning!
3. When you're at the point of giving birth, or pushing, you're in so much pain and you're just ready to be done, that you can care less who's looking between your legs!
4. No pain at all...Just a bit of pressure
5. I had an epi with my first (BEST THING EVER!) Don't be afraid of being paralysed, they've been doing it for a long time now and things like that don't happen anymore...unless you sneeze or something! And with my second one, I had him in like 30 minutes so no time for any pain meds! Sorry I couldn't help you with that one...
6. It just hurts...when it gets bad it pretty much takes your breath away...BAD cramping, mine were in my lower back.
7. It hurt more when they were scrubbing my back with the cleaning stuff than the poking for the epidural...I didn't even feel them poke me! And the IV doesn't hurt as long as it is put in the RIGHT way.

Good luck to you mama, having a baby is an awesome experience, and it's well worth it in the end!!!

1. How did the I.V feel? A little pinch.. but my contractions were so bad I barely noticed.
2. Whatwas the most painful thing about being in labor/giving birth other than contractions? The contractions were by far the most painful thing. But if I had to choose a runner-up it would be the crowning and the final push before she came out.
3. Did you feel nervous about having so many people looking between your legs? lol Not nervous. A little uncomfortable but I really didn't care.
4. how did it feel when they check you to see howmuch you have dialated. The higher your cervix is, the more it hurts. By the time you're in labor, it will probably be low enough that it doesn't hurt at all. Just a little uncomfortable.
5. what was the best medicine you had for pain other than a epi?and how long did it last? The only medicine I got was the epi.
6. how did your contractions feel? Like hell. They were the worst pain I've ever felt in my life. But I had an unusually fast labor for a first time mom so it was like all the pain was condensed since my body was working so fast..
7. what hurt worse....the epidural or the I.V. Neither hurt. I suppose if I wasn't in labor the epi might have been more uncomfortable.. But like I said, I was in so much pain from the contractions you coulda hit me over the head with a baseball bat and it probably wouldn't have hurt.. lol.

1. How did the I.V feel?
- Not as painful as Donating Blood

2. What was the most painful thing about being in labor/giving birth other than contractions?
- Trying to get them to believe the contractions were really that bad because I was able to actual tell them that they were happening(they try and tell you that no 2 women/labours are alike but when you're not "normally" they don't listen to you). And Low blood sugar.

3. Did you feel nervous about having so many people looking between your legs? lol
- If your not used to it by the end of the 9 months you never will be, but once that babies out it was a different story!! Apparently (according to the nurses at the Hospital I gave birth at) they say you lose your modesty (and clothing) the closer you are to actual delivery time.

4. how did it feel when they check you to see howmuch you have dialated.
- they used their hand. So more neccessary and actually asked for violaiton. *SIGH* why do we do this?

5. what was the best medicine you had for pain other than a epi?and how long did it last?
- Umm I think they gave me some T-3's after the baby was born.

6. how did your contractions feel?

- Uhh not at all until they moved to the back and then like seriously hard and vicious Muscle spasms.

7. what hurt worse....the epidural or the I.V.
- to me it was the Epi
