Naturally Inducing Labor?

posted 19th Jul
I'll be 38 weeks tomorrow and I know that he'll come when he's ready and all that but I haven't had a single sign of labor. No BH or anything even close. I was just wondering if there was anything you ladies may have done that maybe encouraged your baby to head out a little sooner rather than later. I'm in no hurry to have him out but I don't want to be induced at 42 weeks because he's just super comfy in there. I'm definently not intrested in castrol oil or anything that extreme and I've heard sex sex and more sex but is there anything else I could be doing to help him out in the next couple of weeks??

Walk and have sex. That's all you can really do but either way the Baby will only come when he or she is good and ready.

i could of had sex 4 times a day and walked a marathon and still never had any signs of labor. i didn't dialate to 1cm till 40 weeks. i didn't have a contraction till they started pitocin.

so all the tricks help some people, and some they dont.
but i guess it doesn't hurt to tryyyyy.. so do some walking if you can... i couldn't at that point lol. i did what i could.
idk what else. i suggest relaxing to be honest.. after baby comes it will not happen for a while. i took advantage of my last days before motherhood and ate good meals.. took hot baths... went out to eat.. went shopping.. spent time w/ family/friends/boyfriend.. all the stuff you take advantage of now will soon dissapear!!

I know I really hould be savoiring theses lastcouple weeks of freedom but theres just such a huge part of me that doesn't want to be pregnant anymore, I can't wait for him to be out and my body to start getting back to normal and most of all I want to meet my little sunshine

I've walked, walked, walked, walked, walked. No sex, because my husband is in Afghanistan, but I've tried everything that is safe (no castor oil, or anything crazy like that for me either!) She's due today..and even though I've had contractions....she doesn't seem to be in a hurry to come.

Mymidwife with my first child recommended nipple stimulation. It really gets the contractions going. All you have to do is stimulate the nipples until the contraction starts (this will feel like a hardening of the uterus, almost like a rock). Then stop and wait for five to ten minutes and repeat. Just keep doing this or having your husband/significant other do this until the contractions start coming on their own.

Nipple stimulation
Some women massage their nipples as a way to induce labor. This stimulation brings about the release of oxytocin, which is the natural form of pitocin. Oxytocin causes contractions, which sometimes evolve into labor.

Most practitioners are not enthusiastic about this method of inducing labor, because it has been known to lead to excessively long, strong uterine contractions sometimes resulting in fetal heart rate slowing. Unless your practitioner advises it and is monitoring your progress closely, nipple stimulation is not recommended as a means for beginning labor.

i found it here. not sure how accurate it is though
