I have met someone at there house first after meeting off the net. Let me tell you I would never do it again. I am not sure what made me make such a stupid choice. I guess just young and being dumb. Now I would never do it! Public always.

i just saw a 20/20 or something about a think it was a cops wife who was kidnapped. she was in contact on the cell phone on and off over a period of an hour with police and her husband. it ended in death. i dont think it matters people know where you are or if you have a cell. that's not going to protect anyone.

get this that same story a few people around called the cops even followed the car because a car driving by saw her banging on the window screaming for help. but they crossed "station lines" or whatever that that information wasn't being passed between them.

Wow...Thats just nuts. I told her she had no common sense whatsoever. Her reply. "Oh well, you know I havent always had the best judgement when it comes to guys." She is 29! With a child to care for. I just dont't understand her at all.

In the end shes going to make her own choice. We can only hope she'll be safe.

The only thing that bothers me about this isn't that people are concerned about the safety of meeting men from the internet, because frankly people should be exercising caution, what bothers me is that some people seem comparatively more trusting of men they meet in person - why is someone you meet in person automatically more trustworthy than someone you met online?

This is off topic, but it bothers me.

My biggest fear in that situation would be that they wouldn't be the person they made themselves out to be and turn out to be some old bald creep that would rape and kill me. I don't meet people in bars either but I feel like I would get a better view of how someone is in person then I could over the computer.

I agree with you C whole heartedly. I see no difference.
I met my husband in a video store that i worked in and we went to his house for a date watch movies drink etc. but my friend fernando knew where i was and i had him on speed dial on my cell phone.. Ive always been cautious, whether it was with peole from thenet or people ive met in person.

Ive had more mishaps and crap with people i met face to face then from people i ment from the net.

i dunno if that makes sense.. but yeah.. lol

Not really too much off topic. Just that my point is, for her, if she meets a man in a bar, he is known by her friends or family. She would never walk up to a man in a bar and say "Lets go home.", but that is esentially what she did with the other dude.If that makes sense.

Me n my friend were just talking about that today. A friend of mine met a guy from the web that she didnt even know. And when he picked her up there was another guy in the car. So her dumb ass got in with both of em and drove off. She texted my friend about it and he told her to have him take her back and leave her alone. Thats so fucking dangerous!!! u don't know who the hell ur meeting! It could be a rapist, murderer, or just a sick-o! And no one would be able to find u b/c no one would know who u left with! i hope my kids don't do anything dumb like that.

I voted... and I voted for with the not in public... but I must qualify that...

I met someone through and dating website and we emailed for a month and then spoke on the phone for another month before we met in person. Also we are now married and have been for the last 4 years and have a beautiful little girl who is about to turn 1 in a month and a half... We actaully got married less than a year after we met in person......

Had we not communicated so much before hand, though, I would have never met him at his place for the first time.
