I'm at 2 cm and lost my plug last night... but it still feels like nothing's gonna happen for me quite yet. I think I have another week, at least.

Well..I was only 50% effaced last tuesday and totally closed   But they say that can change rapidly so I don't have a clue what I am at now. I have been a little stronger each day, having some nice contractions, a lot more obvious these last few days. I am hoping I have made some progress! If I don't go in to labor by tuesday I a going to make the midwife check me again  .

Yeah, the whole "progress" thing is kind of meaningless, since we could be dilated for weeks with no action or it could all happen at once with no warning. *BUT* it's the only TANGIBLE thing we have to measure and watch and cling to! So hard not to focus on it!

I'm trying to enjoy the "calm before the storm"... resting, relaxing, taking it easy... knowing that crazy is coming when the baby arrives. Sometimes I ask myself why I'm so damn impatient, knowing how rough those first few weeks and months can be. But there's no question-- messy diapers, sleepless nights, bloody boobs, fussing, colic, whatever else it brings, I want this baby here and I can't wait.

Me too! I want to see him and hold him, and of course I want to be able to sleep on my back again even though I know i won;t be getting much sleep. I just really want my cankles to go away!

And instead of cankles, I've developed a seriously unattractive double chin. My face and neck are so fat and swollen (along with my ass), they honestly dwarf my belly at this point.

HAHAHAH Seriously! My hips are so retarded right now from laying on my sides every single stinking night! I feel you on the double chin thing...I have a bit of that myself...and my nose has definitely gotten bigger too! Carlos was hiaving fun last night pressing shapes in to my feet with his fingers. I secretly think he enjoys watching me turn in to a hippo...just for his entertainment! Soon lady, soon we get to have a cocktail....I am hoping some kind person brings me a blended margarita in a paper cup to the hospital as soon as I squeeze him out!

There is no question that husbands find it fascinating and hilarious to watch their lovely wives morph into manatees. Hardeey harr harr...I wish I found it half as funny or entertaining as my man did.

But speaking of entertaining, now a blended margarita-- Lord, the thought of it almost put me in labor. I need to go change the official birth plan right this minute to include that as being essential to my postpartum care.

And an ice cold 6-pack of Asahi Super Dry.

And some sushi and a shitload of unpasteurized cheeses.

And a nice long stint FLAT ON MY BACK.
