Who recommended him to Speech Therapy?
Plenty of kids don't say much at his age, but do know more words than they let on. My nephew didn't go until they were sure he had a speech delay at 4, and at9 his language skills are now at an average level.

It's possible that the Speech Therapist will assess your son's needs first, and then decide whether or not he needs the therapy. I have a friend whose two year old only says Hi, Bye, Yes, No, Baby, Be Quiet, Oh Shut Up (like a Valley Girl), Hungry and Sleepy, but the fact that she knows how to express her needs and understands what people say to her sent her away from the Speech Therapist.

I'm not saying this will happen to you, it's better safe than sorry. However it's possible that he's a little word shy. I wish you the best of luck! My nephew absolutely loved going to his speech therapy classes, and I enjoyed them myself, but I was 18 when I went after sustaining a bad head injury. Good luck with everything.

and yes there are times where he cant express his needs and it can become very frustrating.. with having an infant and a toddler i find it really tough to deal with sometimes.. but i do my best to try ...
thank you for the well wishes

If he can't express his needs, then there might possibly be something wrong with him. Excuse me for being the optimist, I just hate thinking about children having to struggle through stuff. This should be the most carefree part of their lives, so it tugs at my heart whenever I hear things like this. I bet it is really frustrating. My daughter is almost 15 months, and everyone is extremely surprised at how well she expresses herself. She tells us to put her shoes on, she wants to sleep, eat, etc. through a mixture of noises, words and actions. However like I said everyone (including the pediatrician) is shocked because they've never seen a child so young communicate so efficiently.

No problem, you and your family are in my prayers. =]

he points sometimes.. and he puts on his own shoes if they arent the ones that lace up ...   so thats a cool thing that he does.. even if he does put them on the wrong fee sometimes lol

and its okay i completely understand what your saying
it gets to me to ... i feel so bad when a child has to struggle

i remember right before i had my daughter i saw a little boy, he had to ahve be 5
who s left leg was amputated and he was trying to get from one chair to his wheelchair and he was embarrased.. i felt so bad

my two year old is in speech, he doesnt say but m,aybe 20 words, and i guess hes supposed to be making alot of sentences at this point, but any ways, i really dont see much of an improvement in him, i dont know if its just the teacher or what, but mainly all they do for him is little activities and they over pronounce things and say it like 50 million times lol, he looks at them like they are stupid   i think kids talk at different levels, maybe yours just doesnt have much to say ?
