Well, if you make it to term to have the waterbirth, premature labor won't matter! lol. I did get my hopes up though. The pain doesn't last forever. No matter howbad it is, it isn't going to last forever. I told myself that about every 2 minutes...aka every time I had a contraction =) Good luck.

I haven't gone through it yet, but I suggest finding a Doula in your area. I bet your doctor/midwife would tell you where you could start to look for one. Do you know what a doula is?

The first birth is the worst.

Mine lasted less than 6hours and the worst part was the pressure and crowning.
I have talked to many nurses and some a couple doulas who have said I am lucky and my next one will most likely go even faster.

I would not be too worried about the premature birth just yet. A lot of those back then were related to poor diet ect. I mean moms were told it was ok to drink and smoke all through the 50-70's.
As for the first pregnancy birth being the worse. In my case it was not. I had a vaginal non medicated birth with all three of my children. And the first was the easiest. Although it was the longest.
So keep a postive mind set with your water birth. And if plans change and you require the hospital. Dont let yourself feel bad.   Good luck!

yeah i know all about the doula an the midwife an all that stuff i read alot of books and i also watched alot of vidoes that went along with the books to educate myself about all the procedures an things.the thing im worried about is that the hospital ill be attending may not have the option to give birth in the water because i read that some hospitals only have the tubs to help with labor pains but they don want you to actually birth in them.even if my hospital did offer the actual waterbirth im not sure id do it there because of the whole doctor hospital feeling they give me.i want a non hospital feeling you know

I don't know how big glendale is. are you close to a BIG arizona city? If you are, start looking around for birth centers rather than hospitals. Most of them have real certified doctors and nurses on staff, and rooms that look like hotel rooms. A lot of them have tubs for water birthing too.

Gooooogle it!
Just search the nearest large city (if thats glendale, then do that... I really do not know arizona well) and birth centers.

I would have loved to go to a birth center, but i"m on medicaid and it doesn't cover it.

I dont know what to tell you about premature birth... I know anytime after 37 weeks is considered term and would be a candidate for waterbirth, at least by the laws in our state.
Other than that, I had a wonderful experience with my waterbirth and am planning another with this baby in November! My all natural labor lasted about 7.5 hours and I had a great experience! I am excited to do it again. The pain wasnt that bad really. There was never a point where I wanted drugs or screamed in pain at all. The most important thing is to become familiar with the processes of natural birth and learn before hand how to cope with the intensity of the contractions and work with your body's process to help it progress as quickly and painlessly as possible! A Doula or labor coach can help alot with keeping your focus during labor, or just read read read and become confident in your body's natural ability to birth your baby!
I would highly reccommend waterbirth though, it is invaluable for helping you relax, which is by far the hardest work and most important thing you can do during labor. It was very comfortable to move around as the water supports your body and takes all the pressure of your weight off your arms and legs. It also helps reduce tearing, as the water softens your perenium and helps it to stretch, my daughter was 8lb 3oz and I did not tear at ALL!   Anyways, good luck!! I know you can do it! If you wanna read my birth story and see pictures, justPM me and I'll send you a link!

i don know this place very well at all so id have to get a friend that lives here to do it just so they could tell me if the location is nearby.i honestly thought id have to get medicaid since iv only been on my moms insurance for 4 months but they actually cover my pregnancy 100%,or at least as far as hospital visits.do you think that means they would cover a waterbirth at a birthing center?

An exercise routine can do wonders! I walked 2 miles a day and did yoga, which was so helpful. I never got in that miserable mode a lot of moms tend to have at the end of pregnancy (the exercise kept my back and hips stretched) and the yoga helps a lot with breathing and laboring poses...not to mention it stretches what you need stretched! As for the premature labor, I got put on meds at 35 weeks to stop her and she stayed in until 37 weeks 4 days and came out healthy! Good luck  !
