My house is killing my kids

I just have to vent. I hate the house we rent. I hate where it is. I swear it's killing my children. We tried to get approved this week to buy a home and we have some hurdles to get over that will take another year probably, so we're here for now. We have mice, roaches, mold, and GOD KNOWS WHAT ELSE. My kids have been sick more than ever since we moved here nine months ago. Since September we've had two ear infections (counting one right now), two strep throats, bronchiolitis, pneumonia, a couple flus, wheezing, hypoglycemia diagnosis, MRSA, abcessed rashes, you name it. This is all for 3 kids in 9 months. I want to SCREAM and just take my kids and live in my car. I feel anywhere is safer than here. Thanks for listening.

can u break your lease and find someplace else??

Is there anyways to find even an apartment or something for now cause you can call the instpecters and they can condem the place.

Im so sorry, that sucks! Is there anywhere else you can rent? If you have to wait a at least another year to buy, is there any possible way to get the heck out of that mess and find somewhere else to rent for that time? Or not? Sorry you have to go thru that!

Why do u stay there? have u looked for anything else?...what does the landlord say about the problems?

If you're renting talk to the landlord. Send them a letter w/ all the problems and make sure that they respond w/ a letter addressing those issues. OR e-mail them, whichever you prefer. (e-mail would be faster)

If they don't fix those issues in a timely manner you can get out of your lease w/out having to pay the early termination fees.

You shouldn't have to live with bugs/rodents OR mold... that's disgusting. And as you know it can cause health issues which isn't good.

well you are renting...do you have a landlord? I could be wrong...but isn't there some kind of law that renters rights or something to a safe clean home....something that holds landlords responsible for the property they rent? I think there is something like that here in Texas. Someone correct me if I'm wrong cause I may be...but it wouldn't hurt to look into it...

You can sue your landlord for renting you and unsafe house...

Our lease is now month to month, so we can leave. The problem is we have so much stuff we'd probably have to put a ton in storage and I dont know if my husband is 100 percent on board with packing all our shit and moving again. Don't get me wrong, we're both concerned about the kids....we're not sure what to do. We really thought we could buy a house and that just fell through on Tuesday. The landlord is a jackass. It took him 9 months to put new doorknobs on our baby's room so we could actually shut the door....something he said he'd do asap when we moved in. I guess we're the idiots.

I would find a new place ASAP. Even if it's just renting again. I would start looking around for somewhere else and get the heck out of there!

Sweetie I would move, mold alone can be very dangerous. Based on the conditions you are living in, that would be grounds to get out of any lease. I understand you want to buy a house, but just for the sake of your childrens health just rent something else for now.

I need to...I know. I'll have to get on it with tomorrows paper....if he won't do anything, I'll move us myself.

you should look into getting some air purifiers until you can move..i know they aren that cheap but they coud help until you move..don they have the fan kind of ones with the filters?

I gotta say this.....this put me over the edge tonight. I took my baby to the doctor (he has an ear infection) tonight and when I came home my husband said shortly after I left one of our 4 year olds came and said Daddy I found a real live mouse in your trashcan in your bedroom, come see. Sure enough a mouse had gotten into the 13 gallon trash can (with no lid) and couldnt get out. Now how nastified is that? sorry...i have no one else to talk to about this...it's embarrasing to talk about it to people that actually know me.
