Someone told me about that earlier today and I'm a little concerned that would be extremely pricey. Our house is very open, 9 foot ceilings, and lots of rooms, so I'm not sure how many we'd have to get....not that there is a price on my children's health

And I should add to this we are not dirty people by any means. I think the problem is the house and that we live in the city in a row home and it's very dirty around us

you know what you should get the best most expensive air purifiers and then make that douchbag of a landlord repay you or just take him to court to pay for the medical bills!there is no way you wouldn win a case like this girl!

you should call the health department the owner has to maintain the house to a safe living environment we had the same problem a couple years back all the people who lived in the duplex got together called the health department, slum lords, legal aid anything you can think of the owner had to put everyone in a hotel while he fixed it up or you had a choice for him to pay you to move we got $8000.00

Wow! I guess I worried he would say it's not his fault we have rodents or bugs and such...that that's life kind of thing. I guess I'll do two things...#1 start looking, but in the meantime I'm going to write everything down and give it to the landlord and see where I get. He always tells us we're wonderful tenants and he doesn't want to lose us because we take care of the house so well. Bullshit.

I must get to bed now (long days ahead), but I'll update the post as things happen. Thanks ladies.....it's embarrasing, but at least I could get it out and cry a little.

Make sure you have a way to prove that you in fact told him of the issues so he can't come back and say he was unaware...

See if he has an e-mail or something and that way you can show the judge or whoever that you in fact e-mailed him on this date regarding the following issues.

If he doesn't reply within a couple days, send him another one asking why he hasn't responded and that you'd like to address the issues again.

Don't allow him to talk to you about it on the phone, because then its a he said she said... if he e-mails you the response you have it to take to court or where ever you must to get things done and taken care of.

I am so sorry dear. I would go stay at my dad's house if our place was like that

If I were you, I would seriously get to looking for something else, asap! You should also check to see if you can do something legally to get all the rent money back that this jackass landlord has from you that he isn't using to cover repairs and the mold that is causing your children to become sick.

look for a rental on craigs list.

and call the helth dept. in your county.. the landlord wether its month to month or long term lease HAS to take care of the house... i mean doesnt he even have anything in the lease about rodent problems? mice are disgusting and spread disease.. and him being the land lord HAS to solve that probem.

the mold, is it IN the walls? where is it? if it's from previous water damage, then that shoulda been taken care of BEFORE he ever rented out the place. if you call an inspector or the HD, they'll test the moldand make notes about the shape of the department.

and this might sound kinda gross.. but if u have a digi cam with the date on it... take pics of the mice, bugs, mold EVERYTHING just incase you have to take him to court and keep all dr records from infection.. and maybe even talk to your dr about the causes of the infections, if its from bacteria from the critters or from mold spores. that will REALLY help if you want to get some money back from the land lord.

Could you not get out of the lease if there is mold? I mean, that's considered a health hazard.

Then you could get an apartment hopefully until you are in a position to buy a house.
