haha, thanks for the advice.. Finally, someone who gets it.. I've heard everything from "so, having a painful birth makes you feel like a woman?" or "so i'm less of a woman for not having a natural birth?"

No, i didn't say that.. I want advice from people who did have natural births b/c that's my plan.. sheesh, don't get all butt hurt, y'know?

I was able to get up and go to the bathroom every time I needed to, and I changed positions several times while pushing.

My mom had eight of us, and was only medicated for the first. I'm pretty bent on not using an epi, so her advise to me was not to let other people pressure you into it and not to get scared! (that's the only reason she got one with my oldest brother) Everyone else I talk to tells me I won't be able to hack it, I'm gonna prove them wrong!

I had an awesome nurse, and she sat the tray up on the table and we played with my placenta. She showed me the part that was touching the baby and the side that was attatched to me, and how the white spots were calcium deposits. It was gross, but kinda cool in a way lol

See, I didn't know about all these positions until I found out I was pregnant.. before then, I thought it was like in every movie.. laying slightly sitted up or on your back.. come to find out, being on your back is not a great position at all..

and I like the idea of being able to walk and **kneel and squat and stand and all that I wouldn't be able to do while on meds

Its "natural" because its how it would happen naturally. No interventions. Medications arent naturally occuring. I dont understand why thats debatable.

If you want a really good piece of advice then listen (read lol) closely......
DO NOT ATTEMPT TO POOP AFTER YOU HAVE THE BABY WITH OUT A STOOL SOFTENER!!!!

You may not understand this now, but if you don't listen, I bet $10 you will think of me when you take your first dump lol.

I never felt my daughter's head, I had her out in three pushes though (one contraction- I was motivated and wanted her out then!) I believe the hospital will allow you to move into different positions, mine did, but I never used them though. I believe most hospitals have the bars above the bed that you can grasp and hold on to. Not all will allow you to use the birthing ball though- I couldn't. It varies upon hospital to hospital. I recommend asking your doctor what your particular hospital allows and doesn't allow.

Thinking back, I should have used the bath tub (you can only use it up until your water breaks, and mine had to be broken just before I started to push). I do know though, that if possible, walk around the L&D area a lot! I did it for 2+ hours, with my sisters, father and grandmother, haha, and I know that helped me dilate and get through the pain so much easier.

Also, if you have back labor like I did, have some apply pressure to the bottom of your back, around your tail bone. It will feel marvelous!

I totally forgot how bad the pain was. I know it hurt, and I remember various parts of the labor & delivery, but I do not remember much of the delivery process, just bits and pieces, and I do not remember at all the amount of pain I was in.
